PETRIFIED

Forest, that is.

DSCN0903 What can I say. This place is incredibly beautiful. Have I ever told you guys how much I love the desert. Because this is high desert, as compared to the desert around Phoenix and Yuma, it’s a totally different type of landscape. The drive through the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert is only 28 miles long but it took us four hours. I loved it.

DSCN0906 We took the girls with us and they thought they had died and gone to heaven. Their little legs were definitely working over time. Notice the tongues hanging out.

Scooter finally couldn’t walk any further and Jim had to carry her the rest of the way back to the truck. She’s starting to show her age but she hung in there for quite a nice walk. Skittlez was ready to go further, but even she was pooped by the time we got back to the truck.IMG_1006

I had a tough time picking just a few of the pictures we took and I owe Rick a great big thank you. I followed his instructions (which he writes to clearly) and was able to put this slide show on my blog. Wow. And listen, if I can do this, anybody can. I am so not technically literate. Thank you so much Rick.

And now I have to add yet one more thing to my long list of things I have to learn how to do - put a slide show on my Blog. That is so cool !!

  2. Isn't that just the coolest place--we too spent hours there. Camped for free at the gift shop at one of the entrances.

  3. Great slide show! I was there in 1988, so it was a great refresher for me. :)

  4. So glad you enjoyed the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. We volunteered at the park two springs of 2007 & 2008. I can see you really enjoyed the Blue Mesa area - great photos!!

  5. I don't mind the high desert for a while (wouldn't want to live there permanently) but don't care if I ever go near the "low desert" again!

  6. Cooool! Next year for sure. I don't particularly like the "low" desert but the high desert looks amazing.

And I am so proud of you and your slide show. Videos next?

  7. We also loved the petrified forest.

I guess I need to do something about my sign-in since it's become obvious I am not the only Linda out here. :)

  11. I never get tired of looking at petrified wood - it is just so beautiful. It's also nice when you can take the doggies along on a walk. Your photos are starting to give me a case of hitch itch.

So when I'm ready to try, will you give me directions for doing a slide show?

  13. Loved your slide show. The colors on the petrified wood are simply gorgeous. That is definitely somewhere I want to go.

And you little girls are sooo cute. When I had a little dog some years ago, I finally had to get her a stroller when she could no longer walk very far. She LOVED it!!
