This is the home that Jim’s grandfather, Harry J. Dixon, and his grandmother, Minnie, lived in after their marriage in Norfolk, VA on July 16, 1902. (4 Nesmith Place)
By 1910 they had moved to 404 Fourth Avenue and Jim’s father (Harry J. Dixon) was one year old.
Harry was a tailor who worked here at 312 Second when they were first married.
Eventually, he opened his own tailor shop at 220 Liberty Street.
From the little info we were able to gather, the family moved to Virginia when Jim’s dad was 3 years old.
Isn't that fun? I loved going back to retrace the steps.
