Milford, VA High 76 Low 52
Our destination was Louisa, VA. But it was only 12:15 when we arrived and our final destination of Milford was only another hour and a half away.
So guess where we are. R and D Family Campground. Definitely not a resort but what a nice bunch of people. We had reservations but even though we arrived a day early they were more than welcoming. The owner didn’t even charge us for the extra day. We will be here for the next week visiting with family and checking out some Civil War sites.
First on our agenda after getting set up was find a place for dinner. Jim suffers from a lack of seafood when we spend all of our time in the desert. I found a restaurant in Port Royal on the Rappahannock River and Jim was ready to go.
Both of us left the restaurant very happy diners. We shared an appetizer of crab stuffed mushrooms and then split the entrée of crab cakes with hand cut fries and a dinner salad. The crab cakes were excellent. Actually, everything was fantastic. There will be many more seafood meals while we are here.
Our first sunset in Virginia.
We are in VA too but 272 miles away.
ReplyDeleteOh dear....seafood sounds delicious!
Did you see the signs when you entered Virginia that said they use aircraft radar to check for speeders. Can you imagine what it costs to catch one speeder? I'll bet their speeding tickets are high. Seafood sounds delicious, but did they have noodles?!.
ReplyDeleteI think the crab cakes in Maryland and Virginia are the best I've ever had. Now you have me craving them.
ReplyDeleteGlad Jim finally got his seafood fix. You have me thinking about that shrimp I have in my freezer.
ReplyDeleteSea food sounds so yummy! We haven't had any in a really long time...
ReplyDeleteHow nice to arrive early and not charged for the extra night. Sure can't beat that.
Enjoy your week...
Love is splitting an appetizer and entree with your hubby. Enjoy VA
ReplyDeleteWe slipped out of VA yesterday, darn, so close but we missed you. Have to wait for Q to try again to catch up with you! :c)
ReplyDeleteThat dinner really sounds tasty. I've been landlocked up in MN and have missed fresh seafood.
ReplyDeleteIt seems so weird to read your blog and find you on the east coast rather that in the desert. This will take some getting used to! Happy to hear that Jim got his seafood fix. Enjoy visiting with your family and friends.

Yummy, sounds wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the east coast and MD/VA crab cakes. Gerry loves them and I can't eat them because they are shell fish. I never did have the patience to pick at them and get the little pieces of meat. Now if they had grouper on the menu, I would love it.
ReplyDeleteHave fun.
Good seafood is a favorite of ours too.
ReplyDeleteSniff..sniff..you are in my home state & I do miss family. Have a great time there! My ancestors originated in this country on the Rappahannock River. I still say we may be distant cousins!!
ReplyDeleteWe had great seafood along the coast this summer and now we miss it already.
ReplyDeleteI sure understand Jim's craving for seafood. If it's not fresh, it's not the same though. He should be getting fresh seafood on the east coast. Enjoy
