Oklahoma City, OK – The Museum’s collections focus on preserving and interpreting the heritage of the American West and they succeed beautifully.
The building is huge and filled with the most gorgeous artwork and sculptures. This is a definite must if you ever come through Oklahoma City. Even if you’re not a fan of western art, this museum will win you over.
They have a western town replica that is really amazing. It’s supposed to be night time and it’s rather dark so hard to take pictures.
They have a bank, the Marshall’s office, general store, church, doctor’s office, saloon, hotel and more. We had a great time in the saloon as you can see in these pictures.
Besides all the beautiful art work there is an area dedicated to country western performers. They have Robert Redford’s Electric Horseman suit. I love Robert Redford but my favorite movie is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Another area is set up like a rodeo arena and honors all the rodeo riders throughout the years.
You aren’t allowed to take pictures in several areas because of copyright laws; but I can guarantee you will love this museum.
