Sure Glad We Have a Big Eraser

Billings, MT  High 79 Low 48

I still have some posts from TRNP but I wanted to update you on some changes in our plans. At this point – it’s what plans???? As Ginny said, we might just as well bag this summer and try again next year.

Medora was not originally in our plans but we found out we had some mail that needed to be forwarded to us. Vaughn offered his mailbox and while we were waiting we decided to head over to Medora. We went back to Glendive on Tuesday to get our mail. Jim dropped me off at the laundromat and went to see Vaughn.

Vaughn was not feeling good and Jim tried to get him to go to the hospital but he has no health insurance and figured he just had indigestion. Wrong. He felt worse that night and finally went to the hospital. They flew him to Billings and he definitely had heart attacks (more than one). He is scheduled for by-pass surgery today.

We decided to come back to Billings to be with him for a few days until he’s on the road to recovery. So we are now sitting in our son’s driveway once again.

This morning we received the terrible news that Jim’s sister, Ginny, had passed away. She and her husband live in Miami, FL but Ginny has been in a nursing home for several years due to a stroke. Steve has decided not to have a service for her so Jim won’t be making a trip back to Florida.

We had thought we would leave Billings on Sunday but the wind is supposed to be blow mightily this week-end so our planned departure date is Monday – unless something else happens. I’m hanging onto that eraser.

  3. So sorry to hear the news about Jim's sister. And also to hear about your friend, Vaughn's heart attacks. You know that they say that plans are like nailing jello to a tree. (That saying also applies to raising teenagers.)

  7. So sorry to hear about the passing of Jim's sister. Always painful to lose a loved one.

It's a shame your friend Vaughn doesn't have insurance and had to be rushed to the hospital. Hopefully he will recover and be back on his feet soon.

Don't stay too long up and there and get snowed in. I agree with you about traveling in high winds. It isn't worth it to battle the wind and subject yourselves to dangerous driving conditions.

    Take care.

  9. Sorry for Jim's loss and your friend not doing well. Glad it is not you two this time. Even the freedom to travel full time has it limits when others you care about have needs. Glad you can be there for Vaughn.

  10. So very sorry about Jim's sister. My condolences.

Also bad news about Vaughn. However who will pay for his surgery, etc if he doesn't have health insurance. As a Canadian I don't understand all your laws.

  12. You have had a lot going on. Sometimes that little eraser is a necessity and it sounds like it's done what it needed to do. So sorry to hear about Jim's sister. It seems today there are fewer and fewer memorials. I think it's because people have spread all over the place. They don't all hang around the same area anymore.

Stick around and wait for that wind to blow over. It's never good to be on the road and have to worry about it.

  20. So sorry to hear about Jim's sister but good that he was there to encourage the friend to get medical help. That's a lot of changing all of a sudden and good that you have the flexibility to revise plans.
