Bent Mountain, VA High 74 Low 52
Jim’s sister, Janet, lives on several acres at the top of Bent Mountain, VA. I am a child of the desert but let me tell you, I think Janet’s home is about as close to paradise on earth as you can get.
I want to share some pictures on the way up the mountain and Janet’s home.
These are views from her driveway.
Janet’s pond.
Looking toward her barns.
Two of her rescue horses.
She also rescues dogs.

Molly (she wouldn’t stay still long enough for me to get a picture)
Bent Mountain is a beautiful sanctuary for Janet and her animals. She has many friends and neighbors who help her with all the work involved.
You're right, Sandie! This is a gorgeous area! Jim's sis must be a peach--anyone who rescues 4 dogs has a heart of gold!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous country!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful place for animals to run free.
ReplyDeleteWow---what a fantastic place for a home... I grew up in Virginia but have never heard of Bent Mountain. The Fall Colors look AWESOME. Does Janet live by herself --with her pets???? Sounds like a really neat lady!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI published a cute blog today from our vacation in Cataloochee this past week. Check it out if you haven't yet.
Hugs,
Betsy

You are right, it is a beautiful place!! We are camping here sitting in the repair lot here in Mesa. Will probably be around til the end of Nov. Think you will be back here by the end of the month?
ReplyDeleteAbsolute gorgeous place and especially this time of year. I love people who rescue animals. It says a lot about the person.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful place! So nice that she can rescue some of those pups.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on loving the desert. Since I grew up in the Northeast, I look at all those pretty tries and think about all the leaves I'd have to rake up! ;c)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you hit the fall colors at their peak. I love the looks of this place and believe it would be hard to get me off the mountain very often. As I usually do, I looked around on Google Earth, but couldn't find it.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got to see the fall colors that we were too early for.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the countryside away from the city, excellent pictures.
