We stayed at the Dixie Caverns Campground in Salem, VA. The Dixie Caverns were "discovered" in 1920 when a dog named Dixie ran into an opening and a couple of farm boys went after her. These caverns are limestone and are one of the few caves in the U. S. that are in the side of the mountain. You walk into the cave and go up rather than down. Here are some beautiful pictures that we took on the tour. (By the way - if you stay at the campground, the cave tour is only $7/person.)
Many weddings are performed under the wedding bell.
