The scenery through central South Dakota is not the most exciting I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely more interesting than west Texas but not a whole lot. South Dakota is a prairie state – lots of small towns and farmland.
We spent one night in Faith, SD at a nice little city park. Then we spent two nights in Pierre at another city park. This one had 50 amp service, level spots, close to the Missouri River and a really pretty park for $15/night. If you ever get to Pierre, stay at Griffin City Park.
About a zillion motorcycles have passed us going west towards Sturgis and I also counted 12 patrol cars headed that way. Heard on the news that two women had been killed on motorcycles this week – both of them were passengers when the back tires blew. So sad.
We did some exploring in Pierre (very little because it’s soo hot!) The capital building is beautiful and has a gorgeous man made lake right next to it.
There is a War Memorial as well as memorials to the Firefighters, Police Officers and Medical Personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
I just wish the weather had cooperated better. This would really be a neat place to spend a little more time exploring.
