GRISTMILL AND 1830’S FLATBOAT

Of all the things to see at the New Salem Historic Site – these two items were of special interest to Jim. He was fascinated at how the corn and wheat were ground and logs split at the gristmill.

The flatboat is a replica of one that would have been used by Lincoln during the time he lived in New Salem.
