The weatherman was predicting rain for Saturday and Sunday. The first report was for rain starting Saturday night and lasting into Sunday afternoon. But by the time Sunday rolled around, the rain was already through the area and the race was on.
Jim and Don had tickets and headed out about 10:00 a.m. Didn’t get home until 8:00 that night but sure did have a good time.
These pictures were taken with Jim’s new Droid X. Don with the new radios we bought:
I stayed home and just enjoyed myself. Until the hail came down. Not a single weatherman said anything about hail on any channel that I listened to. But down it came. It wasn’t big hail stones so there wasn’t any damage but there sure was lots of it.
I called Judy but they didn’t have any hail in Mesa. Jim said they didn’t see any at the race track either. Guess we were the lucky ones.
quite the hail storm!..glad there was no damage!
ReplyDeleteThat 'white stuff' is UGLY ! I saw it on the tops of the mountains as I was leaving the Apache Junction area and then a little bit on the ground as I got closer to Bisbee. Sure was cold - went down to -18F overnight.
ReplyDeleteNo hail in the West Valley and you are right no mention of it on the local weather. WOW that must have been a shock as hail does make a lot of noise on a RV roof :-)
ReplyDeleteThat looked like pretty good sized hail! Glad I wasn't there for that one!
ReplyDeleteWe had hail at our goodby to family party just before hitting the road full-time. It came down the gutter and made a pile on the ground. A latecomer thought we'd dumped the ice bucket there so he'd missed the party. Your hail looks like ice bucket hail. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of Jim going to the NASCAR race - lucky him. Never knew there was an Elks yahoo group. Roger isn't a member anymore. We never spotted many Elks with RV parking.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning the software. I've used it for years and do all of our pre-trip planning on it. It's really easy to use. I think you will really enjoy it.
WOW...looks dangerous. Glad no one got hurt.
ReplyDeleteits funny how hail can be so localized. one time we had all of our plants damaged and two streets away, they were surprised we had any hail at all!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having fun!
