Middle of Montana
We took our time leaving Billings and headed north. I know – we’re supposed to be going south but sometimes you just have to go north to go south.
We traveled about 150 miles climbing up very gradually to the Missouri River. A few windshield views as we drove.
Finally a few trees.
I love cloud formations.
Our destination for the night was the James Kipp Recreation Area which is about 40 miles north of Grass Range on the Missouri River. Beautiful campground. This picture was taken from the entrance off the highway.
Lots of space between sites. Many of the sites have trees but Jim found me a site that was out in the open which is what I prefer.
Views from our site.
No internet, no TV but so quiet and peaceful. It was such a relief after the noise in Billings. Also, no elk bugles either Ruth. That I was hoping to hear.
We watched a couple of movies, read and relaxed. If you are ever in central Montana, this is a stop you don’t want to miss.
We've been there. Nice peaceful campground. C'mon up north just a little more. We're only about 3 hours away from you!

ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful spot , enjoy your time there.
ReplyDeleteNo elk??? I'm sure you know about the elk viewing area called Slippery Anne??
ReplyDeleteGood to know. Enjoy your down time.
ReplyDeleteNice drive, great cloud pictures and the campground looks good. I sure miss hearing the Elk calls this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why campground developers always think people want to be in the trees. We don't either. Give us that beautiful open sky and especially this time of year.
ReplyDeleteNice to have quiet after a lot of noise.
ReplyDeleteI always seem to get a campsite next to the one tree that messes up my satellite signal. :c(
ReplyDeleteSome good photos there.
ReplyDeleteYour site is awesome. I love all the space. R&R...perfect.
ReplyDeleteWe like the open sites too.
