Friends, Storms, Fishing, Cats, Birthday Party and Sisters

Canyon Ferry, MT  High 88  Low 61

Our friends, Mickey and Ginny, are here. They are our across the street neighbors in the Santa Fe RV Park in Apache Junction. They have been exploring Utah, Oregon and Washington and stopped here to spend two weeks visiting and exploring.

Their summer home

The second day after they arrived, Ginny and I were sitting outside visiting when the sky started to turn really dark. I headed home. Jim got everything put away and about five minutes later the storm hit.  We had 50 mph winds but thankfully we were parked pointed in the right direction so we didn't get hit broadside. We still were rockin' and rollin' and I didn't think it was ever going to end. Lots of folks had left their rigs early in the day and their stuff was sent flying. After the storm the temperature dropped and we had a beautiful evening.

Ginny and Jim have gone out fishing a couple of times. Notice I said fishing not catching. I think the hot hot temperatures Montana is experiencing is effecting the fish and driving them deeper into the lake. But that's just my opinion.

Ginny has been my picture taker on these adventures, so thank you very much.

Our neighbors cats here in the park have taken a liking to Jim's boat. We often see them exploring all the nooks and crannies.

I took these pictures through our really dirty window because I didn't want to scare him/her away.

You must know that something has to go wrong on a shake down cruise and sure enough the starter battery for the motor decided to quit. They had to use the trolling motor to get back to the dock. At least they didn't sink the boat. We ended up getting a new battery so hopefully all will be well from here on out.

Ginny was quite surprised to find out that we have white pelicans here at Canyon Ferry. It is one of four places in Montana that they nest.

Friday morning Ginny and Mickey took the Gates of the Mountain boat trip which they really enjoyed. Jim went fishing again and I enjoyed reading my book.

Jim did catch a fish but he threw him back to grow up.

Friday evening Jim and I went to the fairgrounds in Helena to celebrate my sister's birthday.  It was a wonderful time with just family.

  1. Wow. You and your sister could be twins!

  2. Used to have pull cords on the old outboards as a backup to or instead of electric starters. I guess with todays big engines you'd have to be a gorilla to start them up with a pull cord.
