And that is what Jim is going to be doing tomorrow to celebrate. He is driving a NASCAR race car tomorrow at Phoenix International Raceway.
Everybody is welcome to come out and watch. He will probably start driving about noon. Just come in the main gate, bear left and check in at the guard stand.
Jim drove a race car at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina and had such a great time that I gave him another drive here as a birthday present.
He will be driving 12 laps and can go 155 mph. At that point they have a rev limiter on the car that stops them from going any faster. However, if you want to do a Ride-a-long, those cars will be going 180 to 190 mph.
Hopefully I’ll have some good pictures to post tomorrow night.
Spike says to be sure and wish all of you a very Happy St. Paddy’s Day. Don’t drink too much green beer.
What fun Jim is going to have. I have no desire to go that fast.
ReplyDeleteJust returned from celebrating St. Pat day with Carrie. These young kids start at 10 am. Paul and I can only go for so long. Now for a nap.
Thank God he won't be able to drive over 155 mpg! What a macho thing for him to do, and I can't wait to see pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe need for speed. I'm sure Jim will have a great time.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's great for Jim, Sandie. My eldest son has always wanted to do that. I always hoped that maybe some day I could make that dream come true for him. I have a feeling his lovely wife will beat me to it. :)
ReplyDeleteEek! Not something I'd want to do, but good for him!
ReplyDeletewhat a fun way to spend St.Patrick's Day! have a great time at the speedway!
ReplyDeleteNot for me but my husband would love it. Have FUN
ReplyDeleteI think the 150 would be good for me, hate to think about a tire issue at higher speeds:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great birthday present. Now my husband wouldn't like it but I would. :) Be safe Jim and Happy Birthday!
ReplyDelete155 mph? That's pretty slow, I know he drives faster than that pulling your fiver... ;c)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! Have fun, Jim, and be careful. I can't wait to see the photos.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next time you'll even decide to try driving that car.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow's the day we all need to get our green out and wear it. Hopefully our green isn't in the dirty clothes hamper. We need to hit the laundromat because it sure is full.
Holy Crap ! 155MPH - he's NUTS !
ReplyDeleteA true Gearhead!!! 155...... yep, nuts, but I want to hear all about it....
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool gift!! You are one good wife!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot! He's one lucky fella! Wish I could be there. I have always wanted to do that! Actually, I would be satisfied to just ride along! Can't wait for the pics...nice birthday!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a blast! I have to work a ball game so can't make it. Happy St Paddy's Day to you as well.
