To Fish or Not To Fish

Apache Junction, AZ  High 72  Low 50

fishing Not even a question at our house. Jim was like a little boy at Christmas time when he was getting ready to go fishing Monday. And it makes no difference if he catches anything or not. As long as he’s on the water in his boat, he is happy and content. He always says that’s why they call it fishing and not catching.

He did catch one small fish which he threw back to grow up. The boat ran perfectly after we bought a new battery for it. The sun was shining. A great day.

I sat outside with the girls and read and visited with folks that came by

Yesterday, Marv went fishing with Jim. Three of the guys here in the park went out and bought four month fishing licenses so Jim is going to have lots of company this year.

Marv caught himself a nice fish.

And no they didn’t bring that one home either because it was the only one they caught. Lots more fishing in Jim’s future.

  1. My Dad was the same as Jim. Boats, motors, & endless hours of fishing. It was my Dad's favorite thing to do & favorite place to be. Out early in the morning & out on the lake in his small aluminum boat. I remember as a very small boy being up well before sunrise getting the fishing gear ready & the boat in the water. For whatever reason, fishing never caught on with me but some of my best memories of my Dad in the early years was seeing him out on the lake, alone in his fishing boat....

  3. My Joe likes to fish, but doesn't care to eat it. So when he gets a chance to fish, it's all catch and release for him. I asked him one time, couldn't you just keep one for me?? I love pan size trout.

  7. My ex was a great fisherman - learned everything he knew from his Mom. She would store the fish in her big freezer, and now and then would have a fish fry. She would always help me separate the meat from the bones, mostly catfish and crappy.

  10. I'm really good making fish fillets! Tell Jim if he needs help to just let me know. So happy you are back in your comfort land and Jim is in his fishdom?...fishing kingdom? Fishland???? Whatever...I'm happy.

  11. So glad Jim is in heaven again. After the past year he had, he deserves to fish to his hearts content!

  12. With a 4-month license he has plenty of time to catch plenty of fish. No need to keep the little ones nor singletons.

I once knew a fellow whose family froze their fillets in milk cartons--stuff in the fillets then add milk. Once they were thawed you only had to dip them in corn meal to be ready to fry. Then they heated a jar of Cheese-Whiz for a dip. I thought they were really tasty! I know you don't eat even real cheese but I thought you might like the freeze them in milk idea as it eliminates one dish and one step in the cooking process. Do you dip in milk, though?

  13. I think Jim is just as happy sitting in a boat with a fishing pole in his hands as much as he is catching a fish. So, he probably had a pretty good day.

  16. First time sitting up! I'll never catch up with months gone by. I haven't got the go ahead to sit, but I'm going to try for 15 minutes, then get off.

Glad Jim is in hog's...er...fish heaven once again. From your tone in the post everything is good, Sandie. Love the pups sun spot. :)

Can't sit long enough to write in my own blog...patience is NOT my middle name. I guess just wanting to means I'm headed in the right direction.

  20. Glad he's getting out there. We had a young man from Minnesota live with us for awhile and the only photos on his bulletin board we of the fish he caught. He now has a fishing guide business in the summer. Fishing a disease they are happy to have. :)
