Oncology (from the Ancient Greek onkos (ὄγκος), meaning bulk, mass, or tumor, and the suffix -logy (-λογία), meaning "study of") is a branch of medicine that deals with cancer.
Meet Dr. Michael Gordon, Jim’s Oncologist.
When you first learn that you or someone you love have a cancerous mass, your brain seems to shut down and you move on autopilot. Trying to find an oncologist that you trust with your life is an overwhelming experience. (And it is as much my life as it is Jim’s.)
We were very blessed because Jim’s regular doctor knew Dr. Michael Gordon and referred us to him. He was definitely an answer to our prayers. He has been with us through every step of our journey with cancer.
Today he had more good news for us. Jim’s scans came back clean. No signs of cancer.
However, the fear and anxiety before the follow up appointment consumes your days and nights. The relief after talking with Dr. Gordon is almost beyond words.
We will do this cycle all over again in May. At that time we will also celebrate our one year anniversary of being cancer free.
To celebrate – Jim went fishing. (Did you really expect anything else?) John went with him today. John celebrated his 90th birthday this year and is going strong.
John caught one small fish that went back in the water to grow up. The guys had a wonderful time and will be going again.
Wonderful exciting news about Jim. Please pass along our heartfelt congratulations!
ReplyDelete90...John looks about 70.
Congratulations to Jim, I'm currently 13 years 'C' free. The anxiety diminishes with each passing milestone.

ReplyDeleteGREAT NEWS!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, such good news about Jim, Sandie. I'm sure, even more than Jim, you hold your breath while waiting for results. I am so happy for the two of you. The snow in the mountains is beautiful. We are expecting heavy rain here by tonight (I suspect that it is a system you sent our way). Doesn't matter to me, but I have to have long talks with Jack to convince him that he can't hold "it" forever. He's so funny the way he looks off in space as if he's really taking in all I say. When he comes back in, he looks for the big towel I used to hold to dry him--can't do it now, but I do throw it on his back and let him do the best he can. He comes over and lets me know to use my back scratcher on him. He loves it and I can do it without breaking any "rules". Scratches and pats to S&S! They are such bright spots in our lives, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteIncredible news topped off by fishing
ReplyDeleteThat's great news. Now just keep the good news coming.
