How can I ever thank all of you for the wonderful thoughts and prayers for Jim and I. We’ve certainly needed them this year.
Jim’s leg surgery is scheduled for November 6. Was really hoping it would be sooner but we’ll just be thankful to have it over with. He has an appointment on the 1st for the pre-op stuff.
He feels great because he doesn’t have to walk anymore. That $35 wheelchair is getting a good workout.
Last Thursday we went with Dianna to an RV show over in Glendale. She is now the proud owner of a 2013 North Trail Travel Trailer. We’ll be with her to pick it up this week and Jim will drive it over to her storage area for her. There’s a huge empty parking lot not too far from where she lives so Jim will be giving her some driving lessons.
This morning we went to visit Aunt Happy. She just makes my day. She had bought a new eyebrow pencil but she couldn’t get the plastic off of it so she was really grateful that we were there so Jim could fix it for her. She felt naked without her eyebrows. She was also concerned about whether her powder was on properly and not too thick. I think it’s amazing that at the age of 99 she still wants to look her very best.
She also needed a “man” to explain her answering machine to her. She wasn’t sure how to delete her old messages and she was happy that Jim was there to show her how. She still talks to Jim rather than to me most of the time. I bet she was quite a flirt back in her day.
We had a great discussion with her about politics. She has already voted and was upset with other people in her apartment complex because so many of them just didn’t care enough to vote.
And that wraps up our last few days. Other than going to Church Sunday, we’ve stayed pretty close to home. (Jim hates having to ride in the wheelchair.)
You just have to really appreciate someone who is 99, bright and politically active:)
ReplyDeleteAunt Happy is an inspiration. Glad Jim's leg is going to get taken care of but I know how hard it is to wait too.
ReplyDeleteWow 99 years. Think of all she has seen! Good for her. Hoping jim has a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteDon't we all wish we could be as sharp and content as Aunt Happy! What a life she's had!!
ReplyDeleteyour Aunt Happy sounds like a real 'hoot'!!!...99?..wow!
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers for Jim and his upcoming surgery. God bless Aunt Happy, Wow 99 years!
ReplyDeleteEven in his wheel chair, Jim still seems to be getting lots of things done and helping others. He'll wear the wheels off that thing if he doesn't slow down. :cO
ReplyDeleteToo bad his surgery is so far off, he must be chaffing at the bit with the wheel chair cutting into his fishing time.
I'll bet Aunt Happy has lived so long because she is so interested in things, and still wants to learn. What a fire cracker!
ReplyDeletePoor Jim - he has had quite a time, hasn't he? and you, too. Before you know it, it will be over and he will be recuperated and life will get back to normal. You guys are still in my prayers. :)
Best wishes for that upcoming surgery and getting on with life in general afterwards..... And I'm with Jim on riding the wheelchair.... I'm sure I would be hard to keep settled when I had to stay in it.. The answer is to get it overwith....
ReplyDeleteLike they all said Happy is a Hoot!
So glad the date is set for Jim's surgery. Praying for the both of you.
ReplyDeleteI just love Aunt Happy too. What a woman. She worries more about her appearance than I do...hehe
Haven't seen any pictures of Aunt Happy for awhile. Enjoyed when you posted some in the past!
ReplyDeletePraying for a positive outcome and quick recovery for Jim's surgery. Nov. 6 will be here before you know it. God Bless.
Still giving her attention to men at 99. She's a wonder. :)
ReplyDeleteGuess Jim has me beat -- I'm having foot surgery next week, but I won't need to have a wheelchair. Just a big boot for a few weeks. Best of healing to both of us! Aunt Happy sounds like a doll!
ReplyDelete$35.00 for a wheel chair in a thrift store. What a deal.
ReplyDeleteWe have to meet Aunt Happy. Sounds like a real hoot. Naked without her eyebrows!
So glad a leg fix is on the near horizon, as i am sure Jim is too! Then it will not be long that he is active again & back in the boat! Take Care to both of You!!!
ReplyDeleteThe surgery will soon be history and Jim will be active as ever. My prayers are with you both.
ReplyDeleteLove reading about Aunt Happy... soooo very cool ... and yes... the surgery will soon be history...
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with Aunt Happy. I'm sure I will be wearing some make up in my older age. That is so neat she still cares.
ReplyDeleteHoping the time passes fast for you and the surgery will be over with and healing will be on the way. :)
Wheelchairs can be a godsend. I fractured my kneecap last year and was in a straight brace (hip to ankle) for 6 weeks. Sitting in a regular chair was so difficult. I had leg extender so my leg could be propped up. It was so wonderful. My wheelchair came from a thrift store too.
ReplyDeleteFound your blog through Traveling Tribe. We pray for Jim in the upcoming surgery.
Oh My, Another surgery. You guys sure have been through so much this past year. Good thoughts and prayers are being sent your way.
