We had quite a storm go through last night with lots of wind and lightning but not much rain. Watched the neighbor’s chair go flying through the air and into a tree. And not good weather for firefighters. I was sure glad when we finally quit rocking and rolling so we could get some sleep which has been lacking with the fireworks.
At 12:30 this morning I abruptly woke up with my heart trying to escape my body and the Bungalow was vibrating. Jim, of course, was still asleep but he didn’t stay that way very long with me punching him. He grunted that it was just the wind and went immediately back to sleep. Not me. This was NOT the rocking and rolling that the wind causes.
A 5.8 magnitude earthquake hit about 30 miles from here. No injuries or damage have been reported but officials are out this morning checking roads, bridges, and utilities.
I had no idea what was wrong and finally went back to sleep. Didn’t know it was an earthquake until we got a text from Todd this morning asking if we had felt it. We’re supposed to have more aftershocks today but I’m really hoping they are just minor ones.
How about a couple of beautiful Montana sunsets from our spot here in Helena.
Sunsets - yah. Earthquakes - nah.
ReplyDeleteGee, you'd think you were in California! :c)
ReplyDeleteHoly Cow! Glad all is well! Rich and I spent a wonderful day in Deer Lifge exploring the prison and I had to drag him out of the car museum. Glad you and Jim are doing well. Rich went back to sleep after a tornado flew over our heads and destroyed thousands of homes a mile away! Pats to the pups!
ReplyDeleteDarn phone. Deer Lodge
DeleteDang...I wish I could sleep like Jim. So happy to read the report that no one was hurt and no serious damage. That would be scary for sure.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sunset photo. Gorgeous!!!
Holy cow!!! We had a crazy night of wind the other night-even brought the slides in....but no earthquake!
ReplyDeleteI did hear about that Montana earthquake last evening..highly unusual for that area!! So glad it wasn't worse. You two have had enough crazy stuff for a while!
ReplyDeleteMust be nice to be Jim and able to sleep through things like that. I once slept through a hailstorm on a metal roof but I was 10 years old!
ReplyDeleteI can't think of an earthquake that would be more scary than experiencing one in an RV. Thank goodness you didn't also experience any damage!
ReplyDeleteNope - that is NOT on our bucketlist!!!
ReplyDeleteHad one in GA years ago early morning I did the same thing punched Jerry he said it was the train back to sleep he went..😴
ReplyDeletewow - didn't know that some were occurring that far north.
ReplyDeleteThat is a bit scary.
ReplyDeleteThe quake woke both of us. We are just East of Massouli .
ReplyDeleteWOW! I didn't know quakes happened up there. Glad all went well. I probably would sleep through it too
ReplyDeleteBeen stormy for sure but that earthquake tops the charts
ReplyDeleteThe sunset is awesome, not so much the earthquake.
ReplyDeleteWhen we first moved to Costa Rica many years ago we had our first earthquake in the middle of the night like you did. I thought Gerry was jumping on the bed and she woke up and asked me why I was jumping around. It took a few minutes to realize what had happened. Over the course of 6 years we had earthquakes all the time and got used to it except for the 7.5 quake one afternoon. That one was scary.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you all are doing fine. Have fun out there.
We heard about the earthquake on the news and all said Montana? as we didn't realize they occurred there.
ReplyDeleteWe have another friend that wrote and told us about the earthquake. She lives in Montana. Very scary!! Glad you guys are ok and no damage. Take care!!
ReplyDeleteLove those sunsets...Beautiful!!
Oh my, you were that close!!! I was asleep here in Kelowna Canada but Colin was up and he felt it.
ReplyDeleteActually earthquakes are quiet common in & around Yellowstone National Park. Check out the USGS earthquake map on line. There are hundred a day around the world, most are very small though. Becki
ReplyDeleteImagine sleeping through the earthquake.
ReplyDeleteThat Montana sunset is wonderful.
Beautiful sunset! Glad everyone is safe. I think Mary would have slept through it, I would have jumped out of bed, flashlight in hand. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a start of the day you had. Didn't know that earthquakes would hit in Montana.
ReplyDeleteHoly Moley. That is frightening.
ReplyDeleteWow...Fun Times!
ReplyDeleteTypical guy. Funny
