AND WHAT DID YOU DO ON YOUR ANNIVERSARY?

IMG_4496

Jim replaced our toilet. (A cable on the pedal broke and since the toilet is eight years old we decided to get a new one.) Now isn’t that an exciting project for the day? But since I fell in love with him for rolling up my car windows, it seems pretty apropos.

26 years ago Jim and I were married in Fairfax County, VA. And it was hot there also. We were married at home with only about eight friends to see us get hitched. That morning Jim and Billy put in a window air conditioner cause we were sweltering. I made my wedding cake and the punch. The next day Jim left me to go to New Jersey for an automotive school for a week. A perfect day.

I had thought we might go out for dinner but after the toilet project and then trying to get new tires on the truck, Jim is exhausted. So we will have left overs and watch some TV. This is also a perfect day.

We’re going to have a chest x-ray taken tomorrow and we’ll celebrate by going out to lunch after that is out of the way. All that matters is that we are together.

New toilet ready to be used.

  1. How right you are, Sandie. The main thing is that you are together. I imagine this will be the most wonderful anniversary of your married life. I am SO happy for the two of you.

  2. Happy Anniversary! I'm glad you are still together and happy. I'm sure leftovers with Jim are far better than a fancy restaurant dinner with anyone else tonight.

Nice to have a guy who can change out the toilet, too!! :)

  3. Happy Anniversary! It doesn't matter what you do on that one day of the year... it's what you feel for the entire 365 that counts!

  9. You're newlyweds! Enjoy each other. The most important thing really is that you both are doing great. You can go out to dinner tomorrow or even the next day. Maybe you can make up for it by going out both nights. (See, I do know you!)

  14. Happy Anniversary.

I was reading about the care of RV toilets a while back. If it is fiberglass instead of porcelain, you should never use a toilet brush or any toilet chemicals on it. The brush will scratch the fiberglass and make thing stick more easily. To clean use a soft sponge or floppy cloth. It is recommended you polish the inside with a fiberglass gelcoat, and anoint the seal with vegetable oil from time to time.

Have we done any of these things? No, except for not using a brush, I have a sponge thing on a handle that was designed to clean glasses. I keep it in a plastic mayo jar near the toilet so I can clean the bowl as needed. But our toilet is already old and "sticky." But if we ever do get a new one I will. I may use some gelcoat on it now that I have some for the new marble shoer we put in the sticks and bricks. This has just reminded me.

A long comment on a subject only RVers would care about!

  15. Happy Anniversary to u both! Ur right, it's being together that is important. I love our days of just doing nothing because we do it together. We celebrated 45 earlier this year, they just keep getting better and better. Jim and my husband share the ability to fix most anything...so nice to have someone who can do that.

  21. Hi Sandie and Jim:

Congratulations on your anniversary. Jamie and I celebrated 28 years on May 12th. We had a little more excitement that day than replacing a toilet!!!

Stop by and see us at the office this summer when you are back in Billings.

    Take Care,
    Paul

  22. Happy Anniversary to you and Jim. Hope you had a wonderful day. Putting a new throne in the RV has got to be a NOT fun project...close quarters and all that. But it looks good.
