A Rousing Success

Quartzsite, AZ   - 68 while we were there

Saturday morning we were up at 5:00 a.m. to get ready to head out to Quartzsite for Bloggerfest 2016. Takes awhile to convince the girls they need to go outside when it’s still dark and cold out there. We were finally on the road at 6:30 with a three hour drive in front of us. Well, actually it took a little longer than that because all of us girls needed to make a rest stop break.

When we arrived in Q we drove past the big tent (no traffic at 10:00 in the morning) and headed to La Posa South. Followed George’s directions and there they were. Toni had put out orange balloons and George made a couple of signs (which we are storing in our shed until next year). Really easy to find.

We met George and visited with Toni and Doug for a few minutes but we had a couple of other folks we wanted to visit with so we headed out to find them.

Got to spend a few wonderful minutes with Nan and John. Nan has quit blogging but we tracke them down anyhow. Hoping to be able to spend some time with them this summer somewhere.

After our short visit with them we tracked down Denise who has also quit blogging. She told us she was coming to Bloggerfest so maybe, just maybe, she will start her blog again.

Then back to Toni and Doug’s for sub sandwiches for lunch and a visit before people started showing up. And show up they did. George came up with 54 or 55 folks attending. Hard to count since nobody would stay still long enough.

I did not take any pictures – I was too busy visiting with people and I knew there would be lots of really good pictures on other blogs that I could use. So here are just a few of the wonderful folks that were there.

Thank you George and Toni for a wonderful time. See you all next year at Bloggerfest 2017.

We arrived back in Apache Junction about 7:30 and were both exhausted. Jim took a short nap in the truck with the girls but it was a really long day. I had forgotten how hard it is for me to walk on all the rocks. I am constantly worried about twisting my ankle (the one I broke) and my balance is also lousy. We stopped at Famous Dave’s for dinner and had pulled pork sandwiches. I had their grilled pineapple with my sandwich and it was sooo good.

We were in bed by 8:30 and all four of us slept until 6:30 Sunday morning. Yes we were tired.

Skitz, Jim and Scooter heading back to the truck away from all the folks. Our girls are just not social with people or other dogs. Especially Skittlez.

THE END!!!

  2. Somebody has got to tell Denise that Sassy's got to sit back down at the keyboard and tell those of us who care that she's okay.
Hopefully Kathy and I will make it to Blogger fest next year.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  6. So glad I got to meet you in person, short as it was. I kept looking for Nan and John and somehow couldn't seem to find them in the crowd. Guess I should have followed your lead and gone looking more.

  8. If I could still drive after dark, I'd have been there too. It's a long haul there and back for a day trip. So nice to see that everyone had a good time.

  10. Was the Bloggerfest just a one day event, or did some folks stay over? It sounds like a good place to meet up with old friends. I didn't recognize some of the blogger names, but knew others.

I know what you mean about walking on rocks or uneven surfaces. I never used to worry about things like that but lately my balance seems to have left me!

  20. Thank you for stopping by and encouraging. I am trying to convince my husband to travel a little bit at least. After his open heart surgery, it has been difficult for him to walk. He looses his balance once in a while but that has made him less confident about travelling. He used to love to travel but now I literally have to force him to even go up to the mall. I am hoping that once the weather gets better, he will be encouraged a little bit. Thanks again.
