Dental Work in Mexico

Blythe, CA   High 74  Low 46

Our trip to the dentist in Mexico for Jim has now turned into three trips to the dentist.

We had an appointment on Monday with Dra. Yilka Gomez, DDS. Jim was very impressed with her and felt really comfortable with the work that she recommended be done. She went over the x-ray with both of us and explained everything that needed to be done. Her English is very good which is really nice.

Jim thought he might be able to get away with a couple of fillings but no such luck. He needs three crowns, a root canal, and a filling. The total for all that work is $1,141.00. Less than the cost of one crown here in the US.

While we were in Yuma we parked at the 14 day BLM land at Pilot Knob. Toni and Doug saved us a spot in front of them. Sure was good to see them again after almost a year.

On Wednesday we headed up to Blythe to meet up with a bunch of other people at the Bluegrass Festival. Most of our group is from our RV park in Apache Junction. But today, Karla and Eric pulled in behind us. We met them in 2009 at the Escapade in Sedalia, MO.

Sunday we’ll head back down to Yuma so Jim can go to his dentist appointment on Monday. Then Tuesday we’ll head up to Q. As soon as I know where we’re going to be I’ll let you know so if you are anywhere in the area we can get together.

Then on Sunday we have to head back down to Yuma for another dentist appointment on Monday. I’m not planning any further than that.

  3. I added Dental Insurance during the recent open season. I'm hoping it will help with the dental care I need. I have a wonderful dentist now and great folks in his office - every one of them.

  6. I've yet to stay in the desert southwest so don't know if I'd like it, but I'm sure I'd like being close to that less expensive dental work. With your savings, it would be worth flying there to get work done.

  7. Wish we were closer so we could get some of that cheap dental work done. How is Skittlez anyway? I may have missed a post about her, but I'm worrying about her. Hope she's getting better.

  11. Love your blog! Poor Jim but reminds me to call the dentist. I've wanted to check out the Sedalia Samboree. We live about an hour from there. Always falls when we have other plans. Safe travels!

  18. I know you like being on the move again! Have fun in Q! Sweet doggie pic! I came to rest but the park has me busier than a one armed paper hanger!! Love this weather now that it is a bit warmer. Still some things we want to see that we didn't last year.

  20. Tell Jim he gets an A for Bravery at the dentist. Look at that little Skittlez. So cute. My attention has been on Jack almost since the time you left. He's still happy and not in pain, but my senses tell me we're getting close. I'm so hoping he'll just go to sleep one night. Just as I get to really worrying about him he turns into a 6 month old puppy with his shenanigans. I am still so glad I met you and Jim.

Boy, great price on Jim's dental work! Almost have to take a second mortgage, here, to get quality work.

  21. Wow! Well, at least your treatment you obtained is much more thorough now. That only means that you can really reinforce your oral health more, with the right professionals and materials. That should set you up real well for the future. Thanks for sharing that! All the best!

  22. I went to Dr. Gomez yesterday for the first time after not being able to get into my dentist from last year, Eva Ureña. What a great find Yilka is! She extracted a tooth and placed a titanium implant and it was completely painless to me (and my wallet!). Hope Jim has been equally satisfied with his work too!
