I’m a Slug

Well, I actually got dressed and out of the house today. Yesterday I didn’t move any further than I had to.

Let’s see – what have I done this week. Monday afternoon I went to the dermatologist. I have squamous cell carcinoma which is going to be removed on the 19th using the Mohs procedure.

Tuesday Jim had his appointment with his heart doctor. She was pleased with his tests but he is scheduled to have an echocardiogram on the 18th. She also wants him to see a pulmonologist but we don’t have that appointment scheduled.

We stopped for lunch at Coconut’s Fish Café in Scottsdale. Decided to try something out of my comfort level and had their fish tacos. They were wonderful.

Yesterday – as I said above – I played the part of a slug very well.

Today we ran errands. We had a couple of packages to mail so our first stop was the post office. Then we went to the animal shelter with some blankets that we had bought for them. Took our recycling over to the recycling yard. Stopped at Walmart and the RV store for some necessary items.

Give me sunshine.

I forgot to mention that last Sunday we got to meet up with good friends for dinner. One of my favorite things ever. I’m pretty sure we visited for over two hours and the restaurant didn’t even throw us out.

Our generator quit working on our trip south this year so Jim got it running again. Wonder what else I can find for him to fix.

It got cold here. It was only 38 this morning when I got up and tonight is supposed to be even colder. Needless to say, the Blue Flame came out from under it’s covers and I’m not sure who’s happier – me or the girls. I’m just really grateful that we aren’t dealing with any snow or ice like so many folks are. Or below zero temps. Billings, MT had a high of –2 today and right now it is –13.

Broken Computer

Jim went fishing on Friday. Caught a couple of fish but they really weren’t big enough to bring home.

Saturday Dianna brought her truck over and Jim installed her back-up camera.

She took us to lunch at Superstition Skies. Had a great hamburger and listened to some good country music by Judy Anne and her band.

Saturday afternoon the girls were fighting over my lap and my computer took a tumble. When we got it up and running again, I could no longer connect to the internet. Took it in on Monday to the repair shop and just got it back this afternoon. Now I need to catch up on my blog and find out what everybody else is doing.

Another Aunt Happy Story

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We sure did. We went to the clubhouse and shared a wonderful turkey meal with our RV park family.

On Monday we went to my sister’s place in Mesa because her washing machine wasn’t working. Found out that she forgot to turn the water on outside to the machine. Easy fix for Jim. Then we took her to do some grocery shopping.

Tuesday, Jim helped Charlie move Ellis’s fifth wheel. Ellis had a heart attack this summer while riding his beloved motorcycle and died.

His family have been pretty useless about dealing with the fifth wheel so Charlie found a guy who is willing to try to sell it. But it needed to be moved. We are one of the very few people in the park with a fifth wheel hitch.

Wednesday we headed back into Mesa. My sister needed Jim to put the battery back into their van so she could move it. No, she doesn’t drive it. She just needs to move it Monday when she has the park model washed.

We then headed to Aunt Happy’s to wish her a Happy Thanksgiving. And now for the Aunt Happy Story.

She told us that a friend of hers had taken her to Kohl’s a couple of weeks ago. She had never been to a Kohl’s and had a grand time. But while there she found their lingerie department. She fell in love with the panties with the lace on the top and the satin camisoles. She bought five pairs. Brought them home and tried them on. She told us that Uncle Don would really have liked them a bunch and she wished she would have bought more.

100 years old and still feeling sexy. Way to go Aunt Happy.

Happy Hanukkah

On this wonderful Thanksgiving Day I also want to wish all of our Jewish friends a very Happy Hanukkah. This is a special day because Hanukkah and Thanksgiving are not going to fall on the same day for another 77,795 years.

I especially want to wish Linda a very special day. She and I have been friends for over 30 years and she was with me the night I met Jim. She has shared some very special times with me.

Also, Danny and Shula. Haven’t yet met these blogging friends but they come to the United States from Israel for six months each year to RV and explore. Someday we will get to meet in person.

Happy Thanksgiving

I want to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with love, family, wonderful food, and a feeling of gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon us.

Celebrating With Friends

More rain. This must be how it feels during the monsoon season down here. We did some grocery shopping in between raindrops.

Saturday night we picked up Retired Rod and then went to pick up Susan. (You really need to check out her blog to see what happened to her shoulder.)

We headed for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was really noisy and conversation was difficult, especially with my hearing. Rod told us that it was his birthday – HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROD – and he bought dinner for us. Thank you so much. Glad we were able to share your day with you.

This picture of the four of us didn’t turn out all that great but we had a good time.

After dinner we headed over to the AZ Event Center for a Neil Diamond tribute show. I got a really good Groupon deal.

The turnout was a whole lot better than I thought it would be and we were also surprised to see that it wasn’t just old people. There was a group of 20-somethings who enjoyed the show even more than we did.

This guy definitely doesn’t sound anything like Neil but the music brought back lots of great memories. I got to see Neil in concert in the early 70’s and I’m still in love with him.

It was a fun evening with good friends. And guess what – it rained during the performance.

 

We Went to Jareds

Friday morning we headed out to my sister’s place. She needed Jim to set her clock because she couldn’t figure it out. When we got there she also asked Jim to help her get her wedding ring off. Her hands had swollen and the ring was cutting into her finger. Jim tried lotion and ice water but didn’t have any luck.

So off to Jareds we went. They were exceptionally nice and were able to cut the ring off for her. They told her to wait a couple of weeks to let the finger settle down and then to bring the ring back and they would fix it for her.

We had some lunch and took her to Walgreens to get her prescriptions filled. After we dropped her off at home, we headed over to Aunt Happy’s. She wasn’t in her apartment but we were able to track her down upstairs at their happy hour. There was a three piece combo playing some old time music.

Happy told us that the music wasn’t all that good but it was sure better than sitting all alone in her apartment. She said it’s not good to get in the rut of just staying in her room. What a lady. However, she was pretty impressed with the trumpet player. We listened to the music and then visited with her for awhile before we finally headed home to feed the girls and let them out.

They love to lay on the warm, clean laundry.

Oh, and did I tell you? It rained all day and all night. Record rain.
