We have now seen two frog rocks in AZ. Wonder if there are any more of them?

I can't pick which ones I like the best so since it's my blog, I'm posting all of them.

CHAPEL OF THE HOLY CROSS

Marguerite Bruswig Staude wanted to build a structure that would glorify her Creator and offer thanksgiving for all that her family had received.

When she and her husband visited Sedona on vacation, she determined that the perfect place to build the chapel would be among the red rocks. The Chapel of the Holy Cross was completed in April of 1956.

I was unable to find any information regarding the Eagle Head that watches over the Chapel.

RED ROCKS

These rocks are one of the many reasons that people fall in love with Sedona, AZ. They are so beautiful.

BARKING FROG

We stopped for lunch at the Barking Frog in Sedona. The name is what drew us there. However, I thought the food was just okay and I wouldn't stop in there again.

There truly is a barking frog. They are found in AZ & TX. The males make a barking dog sound during mating calls.

TUZIGOOT

Tuzigoot is an ancient pueblo (village) of the Sinaqua people. It's name means "crooked water" in the Apache language.

The pueblo consisted of 110 rooms and was built about AD 1000. For unknown reasons the Sinaqua's left the area approximately 400 years later.

We visited this site with Paul and Mary. We were actually looking for Dead Horse State Park to check it out and this National Monument is on the way. I love these unexpected detours. Just for further info purposes - Dead Horse State Park is definitely the place to stay in this area.

MILE HIGH CLUB

Not THAT Mile High Club. This one is a restaurant (fabulous hamburger) in Jerome, AZ which is 5,281 feet above sea level.

Jerome is an old copper mining town which was once the largest copper mine in Arizona. It was also known as the wickedest town in the West at one time. At the present time, it has become an artistic community with the artists using the old buildings that are still standing.

The views from Jerome are spectacular. I had to take lots of pictures because Jim couldn't take his eyes off the road with all the switchbacks. Even in the car it was a little tricky. But really a fun place to visit.
