Another Tough Day

We picked up Rocky's ashes yesterday. He is now on our shelf with Scooter. Once again tears were shed.

Other than the trip to the vet's office, Jim and I have hunkered down. I know, some folks think I am overreacting, but I am taking social distancing extremely seriously. Jim is 80 years old. He has heart issues, he's diabetic, and he lost part of a lung to cancer. So we will not be visiting with anyone except on the phone.

All activities have been cancelled here in our park. Some folks are thinking about heading home to family and their own doctors. Can't say I blame them. Our Canadian neighbors are not leaving til the middle of April. They checked with their insurance carrier and they will be covered. That's good news.

We stocked up on foods that we like  and other necessities before the panic hit the shelves so we are good for at least a month. Paula made a COSTCO run and picked up three big boxes of puppy pads for us. Skitz prefers to use them inside rather than go out into the big bad world. But I figure, if things get desperate she can share them with Jim and I.

We also used Fry's (Kroger's) pick up grocery shopping. You order online, they pick out your items for you, and then bring them out to your car for you. You don't need to go into the store which is a plus. But you do need to sanitize everything. We are still having problems remembering to do that but we're getting better.

We've recorded several movies and our favorite shows. I read and listen to books checked out from our library online. Jim has lots of projects that he will be working on. We will keep busy. Oh, and I need to work on our taxes. I know we got an extension but I want to get them done and over with.

Our friends, Ray and Cindy, are hoarding M & M peanuts. Now that kind of hoarding I can understand.

I hope and pray all of you are taking good care of yourselves.

  1. Sandie, please don’t apologize to anybody for taking this virus seriously. We are taking it very seriously and we do not care what anybody else says. Like Jim, Paul has just been out of open heart surgery two months. He cannot afford to get sick even with the cold. I also have an auto immune system disease and I am not going around anybody. You have to do what is best for you and Jim and people have to respect it or they aren’t really your friends. That is just my humble opinion.
We are glad Jim has lots of projects and I’m sure you were keeping very busy. Hoarding M&Ms is a very serious hobby. 😄
You take care and we will be praying for everyone. We will get through this with Gods help.

  2. You are a wise couple. John and i are hunkered down here in Q. Not sure if we want to venture toward indy where they have cases of the dread disease. We have the opportunity to move into Desert Star R V park and might do that until it is safe to travel. Stay safe

Stay safe. So sorry for Scooter, that trip to the vet is such a difficult trip.

  4. You are not being Paranoid about avoiding the Virus especially since Jim would fall into the highest risk group.
Be Safe and Enjoy your Isolation.

    It's about time.

  5. I'm with you, and I am not going anywhere for as long as they say it's OK. If someone thinks we are wrong then I hope they stay safe in the world of ignorance. We just need to stay busy. Today was a nasty cold rainy one so hunkering was nice

  6. I was wondering why I couldn't get any M&M peanuts. Now I know. I wonder if I could trade them a few rolls of toilet paper? ;c)

  7. Your sweet, sweet pup. How hard it is for you, When you are up to it might be time for a dashund rescue. I'm sure they are hurting now. Our Petco has their events. I think you are wise to take is seriously. It does seem to affect boomer and especially those with health issues. I'm being extra careful.

  9. I don't think you're over reacting but are doing just what we are all being asked do do. The first confirmed case just happened here so we are very close to hunkering down ourselves.

  10. I had no idea you had lost Rocky. So sorry, and we both feel your pain. Losing a dog is one of the most painful events a dog owner has to go through. Good for you that you follow the self isolation rules. It is quite necessary to stop the spread and flatten the curve for the medical facilities. Stay safe!

  11. Don't think u can b too careful.. glad you are in a good space. think of you and your loss. I just dread the prospect. I hug and cuddle Luci and treat her like a baby and unfortunately she acts like one too. But that is just OK, i am the one that has to live with it and Brian is getting used to her, even takes her on rides to get 'smokes' she does adore him. But is MY dog!!! hahaha... just love them so very dearly.
Take Care and God Bless the both of you

  12. I hope we can all stay safe. I'm doing everything I can to not get too close to people. When I walk Rocky on what used to be empty streets, they are now full of other walkers, joggers, bikers, etc. It's a shame that it takes a disaster to get people out of their cars.

  13. Tell the people who say you're over reacting to just sit down and stop talking. I feel like we're on the verge of something terrible. We're having fun sanding and staining and varnishing the poles on the porch. Houses provide their own entertainment. So sad about Rocky, I know you miss him.
