Old Man Winter

This is why we have been housebound for several days. With Dad using a walker and me in my wheelchair, we weren't going anywhere. So we stayed at home and kept Jim busy cooking and baking for us.

Hope your Christmas was joyous and that the Lord blessed you and yours as much as he did our family.

Christmas Beggin Sure Can Wear You Out

Dad - Open Your Eyes

It really was great having my Dad here for Christmas. He's 89 and still doing good except for bad knees.

Christmas at the Dixon's

Todd's friend decided to really make him work for his presents this year. And he had to find Box #1 before he could open any of the others.

BRR

It's cold!! Not much else to say. 15 below last night and colder tonight. And people ask me why I want to go south. We got some snow but not a whole bunch. Just makes it really hard for me to go anywhere in the wheelchair. So I stay home.

Only 3 1/2 weeks til I get the cast off. 5 weeks until we head out. I'm so excited.

Where's The Turkey?

Thanksgiving was great. My Dad, sister, and niece all came to our house for the long week-end and we ate and laughed and ate and talked and ate and then watched football and ate some more.
As you can see Scooter and Skittlez wanted to make sure they weren't left out of the good stuff. And could anyone resist? Certainly not my family. Now they have to walk two miles to work it off.
The countdown to take off is really on now. We're shooting for takeoff on January 17, 2009. Depending on the weather.

First Step - Retirement

Jim's ahead of me on this one. Friday, November 14, 2008, was his last day of work. And he won't stop grinning. May drive me crazy by the time my retirement date gets here - January 2, 2009. Last week his company gave him a retirement dinner. I think they like him. His employees gave him a Sportsman Warehouse gift certificate and management gave him a four day guided fishing trip on Fort Peck Lake here in Montana. You would think he had died and gone to fishing heaven.

I'm still in my wheelchair because of my broken ankle and torn achilles tendon. That happened September 26. Next Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, I get rid of my purple cast and get my new one for another six weeks. This one is going to be red and white striped like a candy cane. Then in January I get to learn how to walk again before we hit the road to full time in our fifth wheel. (Which is what I fell out of when I broke the ankle.)
