Hamilton, MT High 89 Low 49
We left Butte heading south on I-15 and then turned West on Hwy 43. We followed the Big Hole River through the canyon on a beautiful drive. The Big Hole is known for it’s trout fishing: brown, rainbow, and cutthroat.
We saw lots of fisherpeople. The water wasn’t very deep. This time of year the rivers are starting to dry up. But it doesn’t stop fishermen or women. Sorry this is so blurry but I almost missed the shot.
This picture gives you an idea of how deep the river is. I told you, everybody is fishing.
There are all kinds of places to camp for free along this river. I’m sure in the Spring when the fishing is the best, most of the camp sites are taken.
We are in Hamilton tonight at Angler’s Roost RV Park. $21 for a riverfront site. It’s not a big park and a little tight getting around all the trees but we have a beautiful pull thru site and this is the view from our front door. Jim and the girls are taking a walk to check things out.
Jan had told us we had to have a hamburger at Nap’s Grill and that if it wasn’t one of the best hamburger’s we’ve ever had, she would buy our lunch. Well, I have to say Jan is off the hook. This hamburger ranks right up there with the one we had in Superior, AZ. It was fantastic. Jim and I split their 3/4 lb burger and we had enough fresh cut fries for four people.
We didn’t have lunch until almost 3:00 and we figured we would be the only people in the place. Couldn’t have been more wrong. We were lucky to get a table. The place was full.
We headed back to the RV Park and I caught up on reading blogs. Any guess as to what Jim was doing?
Gorgeous! where's Sydney... and beautiful cows and then you ate a burger... did you grimace?

Where is my rod, waders, and flies?
ReplyDeleteLove your river pictures - the scenery is gorgeous! That burger place sounded great! If we are ever in that neck of the woods, we will have to check it out. Nothing like a good burger. :)

ReplyDeleteI see your travels consist of going from fishing hole to fishing hole. I wonder why that is? ;c)
ReplyDeleteNo fish for dinner?
ReplyDeleteIt sure is pretty out there in Montana.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a great place to spend a little time. It's a pretty area.
ReplyDeleteDid he catch anything?
ReplyDeleteLooks really nice there. The girls will enjoy some walks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot. Hope Jim had some luck fishing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful campsite - I love having a view of the water, and you are so close. That makes it super easy for Jim - just grab his rod and walk across the street. Nice! :)
ReplyDeleteNice pictures, even the blurry ones. I love a good burger. My pet peeve with some burger joints is when they use those cheap buns (like McDonalds). Do you fish?
ReplyDeleteis that like fishing heaven?
ReplyDeleteNow you know where the best hamburgers are in Montana. Being from Montana, you needed to know that. My mouth was watering for it, but we had Das Dutchman Essanhaus in Middlebury, IN. Remember when we went with Knoll,a and McNichol's.
