Based on some of the comments, Obie needs a little more explanation.
Obie: His owners were loving him to death which can be a form of abuse; however, they were very elderly and probably suffered some dementia. They didn’t realize what they were doing to him. They just looked into those beautiful brown begging eyes and fed him lots of treats.
A family member finally stepped in and took the dog away from them and Nora got custody. She immediately put him on a Vet supervised diet and when he lost the 40 lbs. made sure he got the skin reduction surgery. He’s doing great. Once he finishes healing he will be able to play and romp.
We are still doing about the same stuff. Jim is getting the RV ready for take off. We had the guy from Hutsell’s come out to service the air conditioner. He cleaned out a lot of dirt and cotton from the cottonwood trees in Montana.
Jim power washed the RV and he’s been waxing it in the early mornings when it’s still cool.
He’s also been fishing a few times and when he’s not fishing he’s dreaming about fishing. I looked out the window the other day and there he is, just sitting in the boat enjoying life.
We’ve visited with Aunt Happy a couple of times. Today we showed her what a smartphone could do. She was absolutely amazed. She loved the fact I could read a book on it. She had some bugs in her apartment that Jim killed and vacuumed up for her so I showed her how we could go online and find out what kind of bugs they were. She just couldn’t get over the fact that all that information was in something so small.
The weather has been beautiful this week. In the 80’s with a light breeze. However, starting Saturday the heat is on and we are going to be in the three digit figures all next week. Getting closer and closer to time to leave.
Thanks for posting about Obie, Sandie. I'm just glad he's on his way to good health.
ReplyDeleteAunt Happy is so cute. I can remember my father-in-law would always say after speaking to his daughter in another state. "It's like she's right next door. Clear as a bell." He never got over it.
I often think how my Dad never knew about computers. Seems strange. Now that I mention it, I don't know that Smart Phones were around when Rich died.
I used to eat, drink, and sleep crabbing when I was a kid so I understand Jim's love of it. Good to hear that all is well with you.
It has been way too cool here in So. Calif. When I have to wear long pants and and sweat shirts, it is much too cool for me. Enjoy the warmth.
ReplyDeleteWe got my mom-in-law a tablet. She's 86 years old and learned how to video conference and open emails and read my blog. She was amazed in the beginning and now she gets annoyed when our video signal isn't clear because we're not in a 3 or 4G area. Love the pic of Jim sitting in the boat ... dreaming of fishing.
ReplyDeleteYou need to put a 5 gallon pail with a couple of fish in it under the boat so Jim won't look so forlorn.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on Obie. I was a bit mad at his previous owners.
ReplyDeleteYour Aunt Happy and my dad make a great pair. My dad loves to hear the phone talk. How funny they are.
That's OK Sandie, Joe goes out and sits in the New RV and wishes it were going somewhere. it's nice though because he can watch TV out there too.
ReplyDeleteWhen you leave I hope you go somewhere where Jim can use that boat to fish. After looking at that picture of him sitting in the boat, you HAVE to find a place for him to fish in it.
ReplyDeleteI'd hate to see a grown man cry... ;c)
Time to put the plug in the Northern boat!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read blogs very often lately and just loved looking at those two beautiful, bright-eyed faces on your header picture! Wish I could "borrow" them for when I go camping.
ReplyDeleteTriple digit temperatures is just way too hot for me. Even with a good air conditioner it is still hard to keep an RV cool.
ReplyDeleteEven I can't figure out how these phones and computers do what they do, so I'm not surprise that Aunt Happy is amazed with them.

I got such a kick out of the picture of Jim in the boat. If there's a flood, he'll be ready.
ReplyDeleteJim does what I occasionally do in my garage, sitting by the dream machine and dream it.
ReplyDeleteThat will be really hot next week. Thanks for sharing about Obie. I don't even have a smart phone so Aunt Happy and I would get along just fine!
ReplyDeleteI know the perfect lake for Jim to fish in. Honestly, I can see and even hear fish jumping right now. Kokanee, rainbow trout, and something called Burbot that has to be released because it is nearly extinct. Hmmm
ReplyDeleteJim must really be anxious to get out in the boat and do some fishing!
ReplyDeleteWhen I had bosts, I too would just sit in them and enjoy life as it passes by. Have fun and get out of the heat!
ReplyDeleteThat photo of Jim in his boat is so funny. I guess it's his "alone" place - the man cave. :)
ReplyDeleteTriple digits - yep, time to move north.
ah Aunt Happy... what fun ~ killing bugs for her and showing her the smartphone stuff... it is amazing and it's even more amazing when you show it to someone who remembers radio being the cat's meow.
ReplyDeleteI love your profile picture.. is that new? don't recall seeing it before. how wonderful to see a smiling ~ enjoying each other couple... that's good stuff
