The weather is not cooperating. I really believe Mother Nature does not want us to explore this part of Utah.
The last time we were here in 2009 it snowed on us. This time we have rain and wind and a cold front moving through. Winds of 50 mph gusts.
But I refuse to let the weather stop me.
This morning I drug Jim off to Kolob Canyon which is in the northwest corner of Zion National Park. You reach the canyon off of I-15 exit 40 between Cedar City and St. George. It’s a five mile scenic drive that in many ways is as beautiful, if not more so than Zion Canyon. Also, not near as many people which is even better.
The pictures aren’t the best because I was taking them in the rain. But this will give you some idea of what you’ve missed if you didn’t make it to this canyon while you were here.
Sorry the pictures aren’t very good. But take my word for it, the canyon is well worth a visit.
Hi Sandie.....Isn't that part of Utah wonderful......We have been there a few times and do plan on going again. We are currently in New Mexico and the wind is howling here too!!!

Perseverance pays off. Glad you ignored the weather! :)
ReplyDeleteWe missed Kolob Canyon when we were at Zion. I definitely want to see it, but for now, your pictures will have to do. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWe have yet to make it to Utah, so this is on our "to see" list.
ReplyDeleteWow!!!!!! Makes me want to grab up a paint brush! ~Liz
ReplyDeleteNice pictures even with the rain.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful area, but too cold for me! We want to visit there, but only when the weather is decent.

Utah is on my list for next Spring. We have been to the Salt Lake area for skiing, but never down into Zion.
ReplyDeletegreat shots even if it was raining!!!...maybe tomorrow the sun will shine?
ReplyDeleteIt does look like a beautiful area to visit. Your 'rainy day' picture turned out great too!
ReplyDeleteUtah is one of my favourite all time favorite States simply because of it's beautiful scenery.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous! You are so lucky to be able to travel and see such lovely places! OH, didn't know if you got the alert about the url change...but hoping you did. ~Hugs, Leah
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are still lovely! So sorry about the weather but you two are being great sports about it. Wishing you warmer weather TODAY!
ReplyDeleteYEEEEK......SNOW!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to visit red rock country in cool/cold weather. We have always managed to be in Utah/Arizona in the terrible heat of the summer. One day, maybe.
ReplyDeletePictures in the rain can be just as good as pictures in the sunshine, actually can be better if the rain is light and sky not too dark. Yours came out fine. I wanna be there too!
ReplyDeleteJust so you know your cold front in Utah is bringing the Midwest gorgeous weather for the last week, 86 degrees today, the fiver is at the Lake and it supposed to hold out until Wednesday of next week. Hope yours gets better soon. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna....
ReplyDeleteKolob canyon was one of my favorite places we visited last year. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate the Taylor Creek hike is a fun one. It is windy here in the midwest too. We have had 30 mph sustained winds for about 3 days now (gusts to 50 mph) and tonight the rain is suppose to start. Hopefully it will be out of here soon! Hoping for better weather your way too!
ReplyDeleteI rarely buy t-shirts but I couldn't pass up the one that said, "Utah rocks" with pictures like yours. Beautiful country. I'm glad we all got to see it.
ReplyDeleteWell, we missed that canyon and it looks gorgeous, even in the rain. Hope your weather improves.
