This morning we dove back into Zion National Park but this time from the east entrance. Such gorgeous rock formations. Enjoy a few more pictures.
Not a cloud in the sky.
This is the tunnel in Zion. If you have an RV you need to have an escort through the tunnel because you only fit down the middle of it. The tunnel was finished in 1930 and is 1.1 miles long.
Jim took this picture inside the tunnel. We were at the end of the line so he had time to get out and take the picture.
We stopped for lunch at the Thunderbird Restaurant – home of the Ho-Made Pies. Food was okay and we didn’t have any pie. They only had four types of pies – an apple, berry, cream and chocolate. Then home to get ready to pull out tomorrow to head to Apache Junction.
I’m a couple days behind posting this. We will be in Apache Junction tonight.
It's HOT in Apache Junction! Take a break in Sedona and cool down. Actually, we had to do that once.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures!! See you soon, Friend! We took our first step yesterday towards moving in that direction ... a whole 30-ish miles.
I can't get enough of the Zion pictures. I'm glad the weather cooperated this time!
ReplyDeleteHar! Sorry, had to laugh at HoMade pies. I blew the pic up and that just added to it. I like your route and nice slow speed.
ReplyDeleteYou had a gorgeous day in Zion. My folks used to spend every winter in Apache Junction back in the 80's. I visited them there almost every year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful looking day and such great pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery. I'm not sure I would like a mile long tunnel...
ReplyDeleteI love Zion Jeannie! Thanks for sharing your magnificent photos. When I was a kid, we managed to camp there several times a year. I remember many summer afternoons swimming in the Virgin River. Also back then we could walk through the tunnel; that was considered great fun. Although looking back on it now, I suppose I might think that practice a bit dangerous.

ReplyDeleteSome day when we get to Zion I will look around and say ti looks familiar! Something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteAnd no lemon meringue! I wish I could send you the two pieces left over from last night.
ReplyDeleteA great time, we really need to visit that park.
ReplyDeleteWe spent our first winter in Mesa, AZ very close to Apache Junction. We loved everything about Apache Junction - even the name! I'm making notes of your travels to refer to next spring. Great Photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Zion is a special place
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pictures. I just love that area!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the ride to your winter home.

We just loved the Zion and Bryce Canyon area. We'd love to go back and enjoy it again and again! Happy Camping!
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to get back there. Last time was in 2000. Did you take your rig through the tunnel? What are your dimensions? We are 12ft 6 ins in the center. Doesn't give us much leeway!!
ReplyDeleteCool tunnel photo. Zion is so beautiful. I agree with you - we liked the white dunes better than the coral dunes - although I can understand how 4-wheelers would love riding out there.
ReplyDeleteNice lot you have at AJ.
