More rain. This must be how it feels during the monsoon season down here. We did some grocery shopping in between raindrops.
Saturday night we picked up Retired Rod and then went to pick up Susan. (You really need to check out her blog to see what happened to her shoulder.)
We headed for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was really noisy and conversation was difficult, especially with my hearing. Rod told us that it was his birthday – HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROD – and he bought dinner for us. Thank you so much. Glad we were able to share your day with you.
This picture of the four of us didn’t turn out all that great but we had a good time.
After dinner we headed over to the AZ Event Center for a Neil Diamond tribute show. I got a really good Groupon deal.
The turnout was a whole lot better than I thought it would be and we were also surprised to see that it wasn’t just old people. There was a group of 20-somethings who enjoyed the show even more than we did.
This guy definitely doesn’t sound anything like Neil but the music brought back lots of great memories. I got to see Neil in concert in the early 70’s and I’m still in love with him.
It was a fun evening with good friends. And guess what – it rained during the performance.
Sounds like another great time of making memories.
ReplyDeleteI love Neil....Sweet Carolina gets my feet a tappin'
You are such a social director Sandie--good for you! I too saw Neil Diamond long, long ago, front row seats and as I said on Rod's blog, it's been so long ago I can't remember how we got such great seats.
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had a great evening and could celebrate with a Rod. We went to a Neil Diamond concert 25 years ago and it was great!
ReplyDeleteAnother great day out and about with friends, sounds like a great time you had.
ReplyDeleteNow I've got Sweet Caroline playing over and over in my head. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's raining again here in Texas too.
what fun, Sandie ... I saw Neil in concert also ... who can NOT like Neil Diamond... you know? I don't believe I've ever head anyone not liking the boy .... I think I just might listen to him now... cold ol rainy ol day ... brrrrr it's all the way up to 34degrees! yay
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all had a great evening of food and music.
ReplyDeleteI saw a Neil Diamond impersonator at an RV park in the Rio Grand Valley and he was really good. I also just LOVE Diamond.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great fun with friends. We have been to two Neil Diamond concerts and loved them! He was such a great entertainer.
ReplyDeletePS...found 2 heaters in the basement! Woo hoo!
I can never decide if it is a good or bad thing when a tribute show doesn't sound like the original. Do we really want them to which makes it seem like anyone could have created the music we loved? Or do we just want them to stir up the memories?
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell were they eating out of buckets?
ReplyDeleteAt Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, they sing Sweet Caroline during the 7th inning stretch.
ReplyDeleteWhat better way to celebrate than with friends? And Neil Diamond music to top the night off. Way cool!
ReplyDeleteYou have correctly Identified my experience at the Texas Roadhouse-very noisy!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to spend some time with friends especially Susan. I am sure she needed some cheering up after her fall. Last year she was here having Thanksgiving dinner with us.
ReplyDeleteNo rain here in Yuma Sandie. Just beautiful sunshine !!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to have RVer friends! Good for all of us, alone or couples!
ReplyDeleteNeil Diamond is one of my favourites too.
Tomorrow we will be hit by the great storm.......(up to 55m/h winds and 1,9-3,9 inch rain)
I am so glad that you guys had so much fun. Live concerts are live concerts don't need some one big, although Neil Diamond would have been very cool.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had fun! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
