SUCCESS

IMG_3879

We finally made it to Q. We didn’t leave Apache Junction until 1:00 and got to Q about 4:00. (Have to stop to let the girls out, you know.) The generator didn’t fit in the back of the truck. It has a remote start which makes it about 3 inches taller. Around and around we went trying to decide what to do. Do we take it back and exchange it for the shorter manual one? Do we try and figure out someplace else to carry it?

One of the guys in the park has a carrier that he offered to let us use that hooks onto the back of the RV. Jim really liked that idea and they helped him load it onto the rack. Then he had to go to the store to buy chains and locks for it. We had already hitched up so one of the other guys in the park took him to the store. Did I tell you we really have a great group of people in this park?

Finally after checking the king pin about 20 times we were ready to pull out. A nice uneventful trip. Just the kind I needed.

Jeri and Terry met us at the check in station at La Posa South and we went scouting out a spot for a bunch of rigs to park.

Found a great spot and after Jim dumped and took on fresh water, we found Denise and she followed us to our spot. Got set up, the girls fed and walked.

Jeri & Terry have been in an RV park in town and will be moving out to our spot in the morning. Jim and I joined them for dinner at Q-Town Cafe. Denise stayed home and got into her jammies and just relaxed.

We just got home and are exhausted.

The sunset pictures are from out first night here in the desert. I’ll have more pictures of our spot tomorrow.

  8. Well you got that off of you list of stuff to do. Drop 5ver on truck rails! Almost everyone does that eventually, so yours is out of the way. And now you can get one of those cool square iron end gates with the notch out of the center. Never have to put that baby down to hook up ever again! Good luck in the desert!

  10. Stay with the electric start generator, when I bought mine I made sure I got the ES model so if something happened and the power went off while I was away, Donna could just turn a key to start it.That carrier is a good idea, Jim may be able to make a cover for it and it will stay dry while traveling. We are lucky our 3500/4000 fits on the back of the pickup bed under the fiver, I may still put a cover over it as water can still fly up there. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..

  11. Nice feeling to have all those problems behind you. Quartzsite is the place to be if you like lots and lots and lots of people. We've been there 4 times and parked just a few miles further south than where you guys are. Kelly generally went into town and mixed it up with the crowds and I stayed out in the desert soaking up the sun and scenery....:))

Glad you made it okay. Beautiful sunset..I noticed our sunrise here this morning looked almost like that but that is because it is supposed to be WINDY again today. But my goodness it has been so warm here. Day before yesterday we had our trees in the back yard timmed....they were going to cut them down but Bill got up that morning and said....I think we want to keep our trees, and I agreed. It was fun helping the guys drag the limbs away to the front yard to the chipper machine...they said that we were over-qualified but hired. And they kept saying that we didn't need to help but we convinced them that the exercise does wonders.
That evening and yesterday our bods were a little reminder of our age and our joint replacements. Oh well, it didn't kill us, and we had fun.
    Now you guys have fun!!
