AUNT HAPPY UPDATE

Aunt Happy finally had her implant done yesterday and it went just okay. The surgeon didn’t go into a great amount of detail but we got the impression it didn’t go as smoothly as it could have. However, everything should be just fine.

Her eye is really bloody. She has four stitches and when I talked to her last evening, she was in a great deal of pain. Her surgeon told her to take some Motrin for the pain, but then she called the Pharmacist and he told her she shouldn’t take the Motrin but to take Tylenol. I had suggested she take three Tylenol and then go back to two today. But she wasn’t sure she was going to do that.

She isn’t happy right at the moment. Lots of things going on that she wants to do and she can’t or won’t because her eye looks so terrible. We’ll have Christmas dinner with her and hopefully that will cheer her up. I do know that she won’t let it keep her down for too long.

  1. I normally can't take either Tylenol or Vicodin, so I had a prescription for Percoset without the Tylenol. I couldn't even tell that I took something, so the evening of my surgery I took one of my daughter's pills (she recently had oral surgery to prepare for dental implants). It had a real kick and sure put me out of my misery. Later during the night I took one more, and after that I've been ok from the pain standpoint. I think Happy should ask her surgeon to prescribe something stronger. At her age (or any age for that matter) why should someone suffer from pain when there is a relief for it. I am speaking as one who rarely takes any kind of meds, but when I need something I don't want to fool around with OTC crap!

  2. I agree! there is no reason for Aunt Happy to be in pain. Unless they are so concerned about her condition that they think pain meds would kill her. That would not be a good outcome; she still enjoys life too much.

  3. I feel bad for Aunt Happy. She needs some kick ass pain killers. Why suffer at that age? Her doc needs to shape up.

  4. Too bad she is having a difficult time when she wants to be enjoying all the season's activities. Hope she is up and around soon and free of pain. Merry Christmas to you all and hugs to Aunt Happy.

  5. Hope Aunt Happy starts to feel better soon. I agree - she needs to take something strong enough to combat the pain. I think Motrin is being pulled from shelves and my doctors tell me to not take Tylenol because it isn't good for the liver - who knows, the 'rules' seem to keep changing.

    Merry Christmas!
