MRI

mri Jim had his MRI this morning. His appointment yesterday was 44 miles away, the MRI appointment was 45 miles. That’s one way. I have no idea what he was thinking when he made the doctor appt yesterday because it was 8:30 in the morning. I think he forgot we are in a city and there are still a million people who commute to work every morning around that time. It will all be worth it if they can help him out.

mri1 Butterbean – I don’t think you could handle the MRI. Jim said you have to lay completely still for 20 minutes and it gets really hot inside the tube. Anybody with claustrophobia would really have a tough time with it. Unless maybe a valium would help.

Now we have to wait until we hear from the doctor about the results of the MRI. Hopefully it won’t be long.

He’s gone fishing this afternoon to recover from the trauma of the MRI this morning. Me? = well I’m going to sit out in the sunshine and recover from the trauma of absolutely nothing.

Welcome Dayton C. as a new follower. I so appreciate all of you that follow along with us on our journey.

  2. I've had MRIs and they aren't so bad. You just have to relax. They will give you something to keep you calm if you want.

At least the test is over and we are all keeping good thoughts for good results. :)

  3. I hope the results from the MRI are helpful. Once when I had an MRI, evidently I wasn't quite still or quite enough because the technician kept telling me that I was breathing too loudly. Excuse me for breathing?? It would have been funny if it wasn't so serious. :)

  4. Any "non-invasive" test is a good thing, claustrophobia or not. Sure hope they can find an answer.

  6. Nice that Jim has a relaxing hobby like fishing. That goes a long way in keeping stress levels under control.

  7. Glad the MRI is over and that the wait for results is speedy. Hope you recover from the stress of doing nothing but sitting in the sun - it's a tough life as a full-timer.

  9. We have discovered every place we think we need to go is close to 50 miles. For people that like to go that's a mighty long ways. At least Jim has the MRI behind him and now you both can relax and enjoy the sunshine whatever way suits you ... fishing or sitting.

  10. Spine problems are very familiar to us, and MRIs, while not routine, are also not unfamiliar. We don't like either the spine problems or the MRIs! Most of our medical appointments have been in a city (Tucson) and require a 45 - 50 mile trip each way, so we can really empathize, except that much of our journey is on I-10, which makes it easier.

  11. I had to have an MRI of my brain, (they were checking to see if I had one... lol) and when I was in the big tube, I had to shut my eyes and just dream of lying on the beach somewhere hot... it seemed to work. It also took 1/2 an hour! Glad to hear that Jim's went well, and hopefully they will be able to help him!

  12. I have had many an MRI. Did he give him earphones to listen to music. That really helps. Praying for good results that will help the doctors get Jim on the road to healing!

  13. Hope the MRI results are positive for Jim and that sitting in the sunshine doing nothing helped you recover from your trauma as well - that sounds like a very good remedy to me!

  14. I hope the MRI shows Jim's problem and gets him on his way to wellness. I see one in my near future. Back problems are NO fun.

I had to have one for my cervical spine in 1986. At that time, the MRIs were complete closed-no open ends. And, I wasn't allowed to swallow for a half hour. They told me to close my eyes, but I found it easier to keep my eyes open. At least it gave the doctors the proof they needed to do surgery, and I finally was free of pain.

    Keep us posted.

  15. Me too! It's so hard to stay still that long and the noise! Unbelievable. I didn't get headphones.

  18. Last time I had an MRI it was for my head. I guess that they found out I'm a little bit crazy, lol. I had fallen and grazed my head.

  20. Glad Jim got some fishing in after the test. Being in that tube for that long I think I would need the calming medicine. Hope all the results or good.
