I skipped a couple of days so I could post the Halloween Party on the right day. The internet here is extremely slow and frustrating so uploading pictures takes a while.
This was our sunrise when we got up Saturday morning to head out of AJ. The trip was uneventful which is exactly how I like them. We planned on boondocking at the Cliff Castle Casino for two nights until we moved into the RV park on Monday for the Rally.
Got to the Casino and they are having an RV show and a Classic Car show in the parking lot where we are going to park. Oh well, we moved on to the parking lot of the restaurant that belongs to the Casino and settled in. Eventually we were joined by four other rigs for the evening.
After lunch we headed over Distant Drums RV Park to meet up with members of the group who came in early. (We didn’t want to pay the $33/night. That’s why we opted for the Casino parking lot.)
Bill and Jan are having problems with their front landing jack so Bill and Jim had to see if they could fix it.
A bunch of us went out to dinner Saturday night at Babe’s BBQ.
Sunday morning Jim and I went to Sedona for breakfast. Thanks to Yelp we found the Mesa Grill. It’s located at the Sedona airport. Never thought of a good restaurant at the airport but this place sure changed my mind for me. Our breakfast was excellent. Our waiter had a senior moment and forgot our order, but the owner took care of us and we got our food very quickly. I would definitely make a trip back there to try out their lunch or dinner. It was a lot of fun to see the small planes taking off and landing.
Jim checked out the place right next door which offers helicopter tours and bi-plane tours of the red rock area. Jim really wants to do a bi-plane tour so we’ll have to see when and if we can work that into our budget.
I remember being at that Airport in Sedona and seeing a red bi-plane thinking how much I would love to go for a ride in that plane. Kelly said go for it but I pulled a 'Cheap-O' and didn't want to spend the money. I have always regretted that!!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you guys are enjoying your stay, Tell Jim go for it and take the biplane ride,When I was a kid my buddies Grandpaw had an old biplane trainer he used for crop dusting. It still had the controls in the rear, what a hoot. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeleteI'd love for you to take a biplane tour too. I'm sure you'd get some amazing pictures!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun Halloween party. I vote for taking the bi-plane ride. Leave no regrets behind. Don't forget the camera.
ReplyDeleteI, too, vote for flying!
ReplyDeleteSedona is in such a beautiful area. There are so many places to go and so many places to see. That would be a perfect place for a bi-plane ride or just about anything else.
ReplyDeleteSedona is a beautiful place and a plane ride would be a great way to see it all:)
ReplyDeleteSedona is one of our all time favourite spots to visit.
ReplyDeleteBiplane? The more wings an airplane has, the better, I always say!
What is it with all these problems with the rigs?? Almost makes us what to sit tight --- NOT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Sedona. We were there way back in 2005 but only had a week in the whole of Arizona and our main purpose was to hike the Grand Canyon. We spent an afternoon in Sedona and went on a nice hike. Sure look forward to making it back to that area for longer now that we have an RV.
ReplyDeleteKevin and Ruth
We loved the food there at the airport when we visited Sedona. That is such a beautiful area. By all means, take whatever rides you can to see those red rocks from the air. I've always enjoyed seeing photos taken from the air.
ReplyDeleteGO FOR IT! You never know when you might get another chance. Sedona is such a beautiful place, and a chance to see it from the air should not be missed. Pictures, we want pictures!!
ReplyDeleteWe visited the Sedona airport, too--it's one of the best scenic spots in Sedona.
ReplyDeleteAre all of you who want the pictures from the plane going to contribute to the cost of getting them? :)
ReplyDeleteWhile I would love to see the pictures, I'm more interested in Jim getting to have the experience. He's earned it. You both have if that's what you want too. Dave would go but I'd prefer to stay on the ground. :)
Sunrise...beautiful! Biplane...not so much!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunrise!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of Sedona, I love that area, we were there last year. I would be up in that plane in a minute...
