THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS

My aunt was not feeling any better with her cold and decided she needed to go to the hospital. They decided they should keep an eye on her for a few days to make sure that the cold didn’t turn into pneumonia. We spent a lot time with her and taking care of things at her apartment for her.

The Wednesday before Christmas, we went down to Casa Grande. Jan and Bill invited us for dinner along with Dave and Sherry, John and Karen, and Polly and Vern. Had a wonderful time visiting and catching up with everybody. We also got to stop and visit for about ten minutes with Toni and Doug.

DSCN0127Thursday evening my sister says – let’s ride the light rail to downtown Phoenix and see the Christmas lights. Sounds like a good idea to us and off we go. First stop was in Tempe where we had dinner at 5 Guys. Burgers and fries.

DSCN0134 Back on the train to downtown. Guess what – not a single Christmas light to be seen. Not a tree, not anything. The only red and green we saw were the traffic lights.

We get on the train coming back out to Mesa and I must admit the people on the train were “interesting” to say the least. We had a good time even though we didn’t get to see any lights.

On Christmas Eve day we got to take my aunt back to her apartment. She was really happy to get out of that hospital and was looking forward to seeing all her friends. The doctor told her to behave herself for at least two weeks but I’m not sure that’s going to happen.

  1. Glad your aunt is on the road to recovery! When you mentioned light rail, I wondered why we didn't do that. We didn't but it's still a fun thing to do. Maybe next time!
