Cousins and Friends

Apache Junction, AZ  High 95  Low 74

My cousin, Myrna, is visiting her kids in Phoenix. She has a really busy schedule but we were able to fit in a lunch get-together. It’s been a few years since we’ve had a chance to visit and it was fun to catch up with her again. She and her hubby are living in Idaho. Her Mom and mine are sisters.

On Memorial Day Al and Wilma had a cookout for those of us who are left in the park. A few couldn’t make it and we had 12 people who brought enough food for 25 people.

I loved reading all the posts online about those who have served our country. My Dad served in the Army during WWII while Mom worked for Boeing and built bombers.

Paul is leaving today to go get his new motorhome. We went to Los Gringos Locos last night for dinner and I had a surprise for him for dessert. We have officially become locals. Last night at dinner, the owner came over and invited us to Local's Appreciate Day on June 22. 40% off food and $2 margaritas. I think we'll be taking advantage of that offer.

We all love blueberry pie but they are really hard to find. However, I discovered a place called Piefection in Mesa and they do have a blueberry pie. It was really good.

No news from the doctor yet regarding Jim’s leg and what needs to be done to fix things. So we are waiting impatiently.

We ordered a portable air conditioner and it has arrived just in time. Our temperatures are headed into the triple digits on Friday – 105 degrees on Sunday and they will probably remain high for most of the time we’re here.

I really hate the fact that I have to use blogger instead of Live Writer. I have no idea how this is going to look but I thought I'd go ahead and post to see what happens.

  1. Oh, our temperatures are getting in that same neighbourhood. Why did Jim never mention blueberry pie. One of my favourites too. Well something to look forward to baking for y'all.

June 22nd? - you are expecting to still be there. OMG

  2. It is 82* here and to go higher this afternoon. Couple that with 40% humidity and that makes the discomfort rate @ 122......yuck. I'd take your temps with no humidity.....I know, it's like sticking my head in the oven, but it is dry! Soooo glad you have the extra air conditioning!

  3. Oh my Sandie.....you guys are "stuck" here in this oven over the summer. Hope it all turns out o.k. for your man. Had to laugh over Nan's comment about ours being a "DRY" HEAT......heat is heat whether it is wet or dry.....and I hate all of it. I think I should move to Iceland.

  4. Its going to be pretty hot here in Moab by the week-end. You hang in there Sandie, hopefully this will all be over and you and Jim will be heading to Montana soon! It is always nice to see family. I only had a few cousins and we have lost contact through the years.

  5. I wonder what's taking so long to figure out about Jim's leg. Blueberries are just about my favorite fruit, but I didn't even like them just a few years ago - now I can't get enough.

  6. Oh my, a hundred and five degrees. Please stay hydrated. Lots of water.
Waiting to hear from the doctor must be hard. I just hope things work out.

  7. If we could take your 105 temp and add out 59 temp (high for day) and average them out it would be comfortable. Somehow we would have to remove our 80% humidity to make it even more comfortable.

Hang in there, this shall pass,

BTW: Mince Meat pie is my favorite. (Only Cross & Blackwell filling).

  8. I forgot to tell you that I can't see any difference on your blog between Blogger & Live Writer. I use blogger and like it since it is so simple to use. Just my preference.

  9. Hope Jim gets answers. Don't know if you heard, we bought a house in Casa Grande and motorhome is for sale. We are in Nebraska picking up the rest of our things... then heading back to Casa to experience our first summer and monsoon season. There was a contest on when the first 105 day would be.

  13. Mom has her portable air conditioner ready to go. She may end up moving it out to her Arizona room so the guys putting the new ceiling tile in are a bit more comfortable in the heat working out there, so she hasn't even turned it on yet. Hope yours keeps your place comfortable.

  14. Nice that you got that air conditioner.
You posting looks just fine same as always.
I post directly from Blogger and always use the "preview button" to proof read it first, then post.
Have never had live writer, but don't understand how anything can be easier than blogger to use.

  16. You've got to remember that it's a dry heat .. if that even matters. Hopefully, you'll be able to move along soon. If not, winter is coming. :)

  17. Good call on the portable a/c unit, they work well. Had one in our house when we owned it in one room where the house a/c didn't work well. Now if you can find a place to store it when you travel... ;c)

  18. I hope you're not stuck there too long, even with the air conditioner. Good luck!

  19. Sandy, you are in such trouble. We went to the Piefection website and WOW, not only blueberry but a lot more intriguing pies we now have to drive there and try :-) If we are stuck here in the heat Jo says there must be pie.

  20. Sorry you still haven't heard from the Dr. it sure is taking them a long time. And yes you sure got that extra a/c in time it hit hard today here in Tucson . I'll be pulling out and heading to the White Mountains on the 14th. Good luck and stay cool

  21. That is hot! Hope the AC holds up to the test!

  22. I understand what you're going through. I had to wait two months for lab tests after my surgery a few years ago, and I drove as far north as I could, and still be in my insurance area. Then I waited and waited. I did stay at an RV resort for a month, it was just too hot not to have electricity. But... like all things, it's long in the past, and you will hardly remember this next year.

Can you call the doctor and see what's up? So hard to wait like this. And - your blog looks great! :)
