Christmas Lights Date Night

Apache Junction, AZ  High 67  Low 46

Last night my hubby took me on a date. We went to look at Christmas lights. There was a list in the paper that showed locations so we picked a few that were not too far from us.

Of course my pictures aren’t the greatest but here they are. These two houses had the lights synchronized to music that you could listen to on your radio.

I loved this yard.

This house we found by accident. The lights weren’t set to music but it was certainly incredible.

We also stopped at McDonalds for a burger from the value menu. My idea of a perfect date night.

However, there was one thing that really caught my attention. There were very few Nativity scenes. In fact, I only saw two all evening. I find this very sad since we are supposed to be celebrating the birth of our Savior. That is and should be the only purpose for Christmas.

  1. Sandie - We decorate our moho "Dusty" with The Peanut Characters. I have one table with 4 or 5 Peanuts nativity scenes. They are close by to enjoy daily throughout the season. Glad you had a fun date night. Becki

  2. Nativity displays seem to be getting more and more sparse every year. Nevertheless, I enjoy looking at Christmas lights and hope to do it several times this year.

  6. Sounds like a fun date :-) It seems only churches have nativity scenes these days. The lights are great though. Houston, "Lights in the Heights." are this Saturday and we'll be attending.

  8. How fun. The Phoenix Zoo has an awesome display of Christmas Lights. Of course, it's not free to get in to see them. We were surprised to see a nativity scene at the Fiesta Mall in Mesa the other day. You are right. They used to be common but now not so much.

  9. Your photos were great! I collect nativity scenes and even have one I carry in the motorhome for when we are away at Christmas.

  10. It's even sadder that the few nativity scenes have problems with their baby Jesus staying in the manger, seems that they keep getting stolen. :c(

And we're supposedly a "tolerant" society?

  11. How many places do you visit and people don't say "Merry Christmas"? Happy Holidays doesn't make it for us.

  12. What beautiful lights. It's sad so many places are banning nativity scenes.

  13. The lights are pretty...I do agree with you about the nativity scenes. We just don't see very many anymore.

Sounds like a perfect date night to me!

  14. Your pics look beautiful. It is a shame more people don't display the nativity scene. I make sure to say Merry CHRISTmas and not happy holidays and I am not ashamed to say grace before a meal in public. I think us Christians need to make our presence known, we are not the minority. Hope this doesn't offend anyone but last I heard they haven't outlawed freedom of speech.

  15. I always had a manger set up when we had a house. My father loved woodworking and made the manger for me. It now resides with my daughter in VA.

Maybe folks will notice the Nativity sets are few and far between and they will come back into vogue ....hopefully !!! Your "date night" sounded like fun ..... Colorful and electric !!!!! Right ??? Thanks for sharing !!!!

  17. Great photos - I love a night like that. Yes, sad how our country is dismissing the whole reason for Christmas. But the birth of Christ is still my reason for celebrating, and that's all that matters to me. :)
