Apache Junction, AZ High 58 Low 42
Boy did it come down. And it’s still raining as I write this. It’s supposed to quit sometime later tonight. Flagstaff got 16” of snow the last report I saw and it was still snowing.
The Superstitions covered with clouds.
We’ve only left the house twice in the last two days and both times it was to run to the store. Well, I’m not counting the number of times we had to go out with the girls. They didn’t stay out very long that’s for sure.
Made hamburger soup for dinner. It definitely hit the spot. Jim set up our Blue Flame heater for me and it feels so good to have our “fireplace” going to keep us warm. Skittlez is one happy puppy.
Some time ago, Merikay wrote about Trader Joe’s sausageless sausage. We finally went to Trader Joe’s and decided to give it a try. You need to know that this is a majorly huge thing for me. The thought of eating a soy sausage did not excite me but Jim fixed the sausage, sautéed some peppers and onion, and served them in buns with marinara sauce.
They were fantastic. Now don’t get me wrong – they don’t taste exactly like regular Italian sausages but they are close. We will definitely be eating more of these in the future. Thanks Merikay for the suggestion.
It's been raining and raining. I almost feel like I'm in the Pacific NW. Not so sure I would be too excited about the soy sausages. I'll just take your word that they're good!
ReplyDeleteYeah if I'm going to eat sausage, I'll take the real thing. High of only 58 with rain? C'mon down to Mexico...you're not that far from the border anyhow!

I am going to have to try those sausages!!! Skittlez looks so like Luci! She also loves heat & does NOT spend any time at all doing her thing in bad weather.
ReplyDeleteI'll try those whenever I can ... I don't eat meat much any longer .... these sound good.
ReplyDeleteI'm sick to death of rain .... I'm leaving it and it's following me! I hope I can leave before it finds me here... I'm at Pass Christian, MS
I don't even like real sausage.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am tired of the rain. I'm so glad it is supposed to stop sometime tonight. I like the Pacific Northwest but I've never been there in the rainy season. I guess each place in our country has its good and bad seasons. But, this is supposed to be the good season in Arizona. What happened?
Into every life, some soy sausage...I mean...rain must fall! ;c)
ReplyDeleteraining here too, although the rain is beginning to look a bit like that darn white stuff!
ReplyDeleteI am not a vegan, I am not a vegetarian, but I have been trying to eat less meat. I feel like dinner isn't quite right without a meat however, and the sausageless sausage fill the spot. I have come to think beef is really not good for us and aggravates arthritis. All I really know is my body hurts less now. Can't complain about that.
ReplyDeleteWhat no blanket for the doxie???? Skittlez needs a blankie too!
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me, stay warm!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out those sausages. Thanks for the tip, Sandie and Merikay! It's been raining all day here in Corning, CA and the high today was only 41, and more rain is predicted the next few days. This is sunny California??
ReplyDelete16" is a LOT of snow! Glad I'm in sunny Oregon - JUST KIDDING!! We have nothing but gray skies and COLD cold rain. Thank goodness the snow is staying east of the Cascades for now. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteJust exactly what is in a sausage-less sausage???
ReplyDeleteYum !!!!! Good cook there Jim !!!! And the rain like that is almost unbelievable......reminds me of Hell Creek two years ago...remember when they told us that we could be woke up in the middle of the nite and told we had to leave because of the roads being washed out. It was really something else!! Love clm
ReplyDeleteSausage-less sausage? I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteThat heater must be good as Skittlez sure seems to like it. I think I'd be more concerned about 'sausage-less' than real sausage. Then again, I never worry too much about what I eat anyway as long as it tastes good.
ReplyDeleteThat rain is coming to Ohio. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the sausage. I think I'll try it.
Merry Christmas
The sun was out here in Texas this morning, but now, at one, grey clouds are moving in. Sure hope it clears up by tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunny day with clear skies here today Sandie.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure tired of the cold rain here in Sacramento - think I'd rather have snow. (I don't know if I really mean that.)
ReplyDeleteI heard Flagstaff was getting a whole bunch of snow...yuck... probably won't last long hopefully! Good weather should be coming soon.
ReplyDeleteSkit looks like one happy dog. Hope the rain stops.. I once made sloppy joes with soy burger and my nephew said they were the best he had ever eaten. But I'm like you, just thought of soy turns me off.
