SLIGHT DELAY

As Toni and Doug were pulling out, I was “helping” Jim get everything ready for our departure. I needed to finish up a couple of things inside so I went around the back of the Motor Home and walked right into the corner of our bedroom slide.

IMG_7222 The blood started pouring and I started screaming for Jim. He came tearing around the RV and from the other direction came our next door neighbors, Art and Cindy. Turns out they were recently retired emergency room nurses and they immediately took over. Thank goodness.

IMG_7217 They cleaned out the gash, pulled the skin together, and put some butterfly bandages on it to hold it together until I could get to the clinic. What wonderful angels and I didn’t even get a picture of them. Found out they are from Cheyenne, WY and that’s about it. Got a picture of their rig though.

Finally found where the clinic was and headed up there for the IMG_7225doctor to take a look. By this time I had a pretty good headache even after taking 3 Tylenol. The doctor agreed to see me (thank goodness they weren’t real busy) and told me that since the nurses had done such a good job of pulling the skin together that she was just going to glue my head shut and we could be on our way.

So now I am glued together. And the girls are going nuts trying to get to my sore to take care of it.  In a couple of days Jim is going to have to cut off all the hair with the glue on it. I don’t have much hair to begin with so it’s sad to lose more of it.

  1. Ouch. Looks like you took a good hit. I'm glad you didn't have to have stitches though.

  2. Ouch! That looks like a wicked cut.

The next time you are in a target or walmart, or even a rite-aid, get a one of those "noodles" that kids love to play with in the swimming pool. I cut mine in quarters, slit them open on one side, and then slide them on the bedroom slide at the corners. The bottom of the slide is the worst, but I put a small section of the bottom and one on the side, making an L-shaped foam cushioning for just such an accident.

A great tip from my hairdresser years ago - Biotin tablets for healthy hair. No Rx needed - drugstores have it as well as vitamin world, etc. Right now the ones I'm taking one tablet of 2500 mcg daily, which I think is 25mg. I get micro and mili mixed up. I buy whatever is available, and have taken 30mg and even 60mg a day. It works wonders for the hair and nails.

  6. OMG You poor thing! Oh that must have hurt so much. Amazing that nurses were nearby to save the day! Roger mentioned that maybe we should put some of those "noodles" on the corners of our slides - sounds like a good idea to me after seeing your head. Hope you feel better soon.

  7. Don't cut your hair! I have had numerous cysts removed from my head and eventually the glue will come off.
Hope it feels better soon and keep those dogs off your head.

  8. Just wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed traveling with you. It has taken me a little over a month to read it from the beginning on three dufferent computers and it has been so very interesting.

We are not full time yet but hope to be one day. I hope you are venturing further into New England as the rest of it are just as beautiful as VT. We are in SW New Hampshire.

Your blog got my attention because of the babies you travel with. We have two longhaired boys Kelsey and Duncan who are just 8 months old. I was really interested in learning how you travel with them. The boys are always excited when their halters come off the hook because they know it is time to go for a ride.

Hope you have no lasting effects from that cut. I could just feel your pain when I saw it.

  9. Just what you needed--another hole in your head! I have a couple extras, too. They sure do bleed, don't they? Glad this all turned out well--except for the bald spot, of course.

  10. OUCH!!! Hope your head feels better soon. I like the idea mentioned about cutting the "noodles" (like the ones kids play with) and putting them on the corners of the bedroom slide. Take care and happy travels. ~Tricia
