Thank Goodness for Leftovers

AJ, AZ. High 52. Low 30

I know for many of you, those temps aren't cold. However, for this Arizonan Desert Rat, I'm freezing. The good news is, by next Thursday, we will be back in the 70s during the day and 40s at night. Now that is what I like to see.

Growing up in Montana during the 50s and 60s, we saw a lot of cold weather. But as the years went on, winters became a little less brutal. Until this year. The weather has gone berserk. Frigid cold, snow, tornadoes, flooding, you name it. We have it. I hope your weather takes a turn for the better soon.

Back to my leftovers. Having leftovers in the house means I don't have to go out and I don't have to think too hard about what to eat.

Leftovers also mean I've been out with friends. Melva and I went for wings at Native Grill for their have price deal. Carol and I went to Lotus Garden for Chinese and Paul and I went to Nandos for Mexican. And I didn't take a single picture. But I sure enjoyed the company.

I did manage to get one picture. Got a text from Jeri that the Lavins were in Casa Grand and did I want to join them for lunch. We were all members of Escapees back in our full time adventures. Met Jeri and Terry in Florida and met Linda and Ed at Quartzsite. It sure did my heart good to see them again. We met up at Famous Dave's where Ed proposed a toast to my beloved Jim. Thank you Ed for that.

Terry, Jeri, Ed, Linda, and me.

Along with all the eating out leftovers, Wendy and Jeanne both brought me soup and Jeanne made sourdough bread to go with hers. Debbie and Jerry brought me some of their pasta salad that I'm addicted to. I never have to worry about going hungry with such wonderful neighbors.

January has been a good month so far. Elias is walking everywhere and Todd and Michaela share videos with me so I'm not missing out.

  1. I sure agree with your weather comment - it's 5F here this morning and we got 6" of snow by Tue. We are with you on leftovers and try to only cook three times a week. When we go to our local Mexican restaurant Bev usually gets "Et Especial de Casa (For Two), $17.55 - One tostada, one burrito, one chile relleno, one tamale, one enchilada and two tacos. Served with Mexican rice and refried beans." Then she eats on it for several meals including breakfast.

  4. I agree. Leftovers in the ice box is such a secure feeling. No thinking. No fixing. Just eating. Yay!
