Out and About

Apache Junction, AZ  - High 62  Low 53  Rain

I am so thankful we have understanding neighbors here in AJ when it comes to Rocky.  Because they are, we are able to go out and do a few things. We try not to be gone too long because I’m sure all the barking gets really nerve wracking. I do know that he will curtail a lot of our sight seeing when we get back on the road but we will do the best we can.

We had a chance to meet up with friends for happy hour at Rustler’s Roost. The restaurant and bar sit up on the hillside and offers a fabulous view of the valley.

Jeff, Tina, Mike, Deb, Terry, Jeri, Janice, Jerry, me and Jim

After drinks, food and visiting, it was time for us to go home but Jim just had to go down the slide.

There is a slide from the upstairs bar down to the dining room area. Almost everybody went down the slide but not me. With my bad ankle I don’t take any chances. Once our group got the fun started, everybody in the bar wanted to take a turn going down the slide.

Jeri got this great picture of Jim

Fun times.

Then on Friday six of us from here in the RV Park went to do an Escape Room Adventure. Once again, we did not escape and since Jim and I seem to be the only common denominator in our three tries, it must be us.

Mickey, Ginny, Jim, Pat and Polly

Even though we didn’t escape from the Wild Wild West Room and it is so frustrating, we still had a great time and I would do it again.

We also met up with the RV group again at Organ Stop Pizza. If you’ve never been here you really need to make it a must stop. The organ is magnificent. And everybody really liked their pizza. Some of the group had ice cream sundaes for dessert. Jim was in that group and he said he’d go back just for the sundae. We sat upstairs where the chairs have backs. Down on the main floor, the seating is on benches.

Once again I didn’t take any pictures, so this is one from the web that shows how huge the restaurant is as well as the organ.

Hopefully we’ll be able to have one more get together before everyone scatters. I know lots of folks are headed to Escapade in Tucson but we aren’t going.

  1. I'd pass on the slide too, but looks like fun.

  3. So sorry the collar didn't work. I tried the actual shock collar on Emmi and that was a total disaster--it hurt Mom worse than it hurt Emmi! Friends of ours use a shock collar on their little 9 lb. dog and it works like a charm--she barks when it's off, doesn't bark when she is wearing the collar.

  5. HAHAHA...Jim is just a big kid isn't he? What a cute idea.
We haven't been to an Escape Room Adventure. I am so directionally challenged that I am sure I would not be of any help.
We hope to get to Organ Pipe while we are here.

  6. Looks like you had some fun times out.
Sorry you won't be at the Escapade. We were hoping to meet you there.
That Organ Pizza looks like someplace we'll be stopping next winter.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  9. Too bad you missed the slide, Sandy. It looks like a lot of fun! We were impressed by Organ Pipe Pizza's organ, too. Would have been an opportunity to see you two again if you were attending the Escapade. We'll still be in Tucson then.

  10. Crikey ..... that slide looks great. I'd like to have a go at that. Hey Rocky ...... they come back, mate .... ALWAYS!! Not that I can talk. I'm hopeless home alone. I bark and howl and carry on like a pork chop. Mum and Dad used to leave me in my crate because if they didn't I would destroy the house. When they put me in my crate I would ALWAYS eat my bed. They can leave me home alone, in the house now, and I don't destroy anything and I don't bark. I just howl ...... a real pitiful sounding howl but they can't leave me for too long. Sorry I've missed so many of your posts (I've caught up now) but you disappeared from my reading list somehow. Wow .... that organ pipe restaurant sure looks great and they have ICE-CREAM sundaes. I LOVE ice-cream.

  11. We've certainly had some fun times for sure. Spending time with both of you is a real treat. I'm sure there will be more before we head north for the summer. Loved Rustler's Rooste get together and also the Organ Stop.
