We have Tweenies

Apache Junction, AZ  High 84  Low 63

Life is still just happening around our house.

I went to lunch with Connie and Dianna last week. We all worked together at the IRS and decided we needed a get together while Connie was in town.

Friday Jim and I went to Fountain Hills for Donna’s birthday lunch. There were 21 of us who went to the American Sports Grill. Had a great time and good food.

Jim is fishing and I’m putzing around the house. I was reading an article titled 15 Things You Didn’t Know About Dachshunds. That’s when I found out we have Tweenies.

Miniature Dachshunds weigh up to 11 lbs. Standard Dachshunds weigh on average 32 lbs. They are the ones who were bred to fight badgers in Germany. Scooter (who weighs 15 lbs) and Skittlez (who weighs 13 lbs) are Tweenies. Tweenies are also called rabbit dachshunds because they were used for rabbit hunting. Scooter is our rabbit hunter. Skittlez hates to be outside so she doesn’t do much hunting.

Did you know that Dachshunds come in 15 colors?

The very first Olympic mascot in the history of the Olympic Games was Waldie a dachshund for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. The Olympic marathon route was designed to be in the shape of the dog that year.

On Thursday life is going to get much more interesting around our house.

  5. Dachshunds are wonderful dogs. My Grandmother had two when I was growing up, mother and daughter, Hilde and Elsie, they were great!

  7. I'm guessing your son and DIL are coming to visit. Your dachshunds definitely aren't in the 32 pound range!

  8. Our little Jack is suppose to be a wire-haired Doxie...he is the life of the party around here! Full of himself and so playful with the other 3 pups.

  11. That's cute - Tweenies! They are so cute in your header, they look like they are asking you for something. Those little faces! Your dogs are right about Katie's size, she is 14 pounds - I thought Dachshunds were heavier. I don't think I've ever seen your pups in person. :)

  14. I'm getting caught up after Spring Break. Haven't heard of tweenies before but it makes sense. Gretchen weighs 10, Harley 11, and Willy 12. It makes me laugh when someone will say a dachsie is a standard if they aren't really tiny.....it's very obvious they haven't ever seen a standard dachsie.
