Don’t really know a whole lot more than we did before we saw the oncologist but we both really liked him. And that’s a good thing. We also found out that Jim may not be a candidate for surgery.
He has had two coronary by pass surgeries and they get real hesitant about surgery when chemo and radiation will work.
Jim has a PET-CT scan tomorrow and a brain MRI on Friday. We will be getting to bed early tonight because Jim has to be up at 5:00 a.m. to take his medications and eat some protein.
We meet with the oncologist, Dr. Michael Gordon, again on Monday and that’s when we will know how we’re going to proceed.
Thanks to all of you for all of the beautiful, kind words of encouragement and the prayers. You will just never know how wonderful it is to read these words and feel the caring behind them.
Prayers, prayers and more prayers coming your way. Safe travels to the PET Scan tomorrow. Love you both!
ReplyDeleteTreatment is so much better now than in years past. 'm glad you have good feeling about your oncologist. That is so important.
ReplyDeleteadd one more person to your list of people who care. Sending another hug to you two and wishes for a good outcome.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you both "clicked" with your oncologist. Sounds like you have found a great member of your healing team. Sending you positive energy and lots of prayers that this week's tests go well. Take care!
ReplyDeleteYou are never alone!! We are here keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers!! So glad you like your doctor!! Keep us updated!!
ReplyDeleteThinking about you both. Love you.
ReplyDeleteGreat news that you and Jim like your Oncologist. Happy to hear the update. I think the worst part of illness is the waiting and the unknown. Once you know exactly what you're facing, you and Jim will face it, together, and he'll be on his way to recover. My thoughts, as always, are with you.
ReplyDeleteAnxious to hear the next update. Get some rest if you can.
If you need me, let me know and I'll come and be with you. You know that!!
ReplyDeletehope all goes well with the CT scan and the MRI visit..sleep well!
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm so sorry to hear that you both have to go through this. That really sucks. We'll continue to think good thoughts until something more useful occurs to us.

If I had my little rig I could be there with you in person instead of just in spirit. I'm good at waiting rooms. :)
ReplyDeleteHaving a health care team you are comfortable with is sooooo important in this type of challenge. So far so good! Keeping you both in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteAltho cancer is very scary, there has been many advances in treatment over the years and it's amazing what they can do. Having a doc you like and trust is very important. Prayers coming your way! God bless!
ReplyDeleteAn Oncologist that you both are confident with is important. Surgery is NOT always the best treatment. The PET scan and MRI will give your medical team and you information to make the best decisions for success. My prayers are with you both.
ReplyDeleteAgain, we return to Jeremiah 29:11. I pray for you and Jim often through the day. Now, my friend, practice what you preach and be sure to get the rest you need.
ReplyDeleteYou both are being remembered in our daily prayers for his complete healing.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you two and wishing you the very best. Glad to hear you clicked with your doc and can trust his judgement and knowledge. Hope to hear more good news soon!

ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you both. My favorite verse....
ReplyDeleteHave not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. (Joshua 1:9)
Chiming in a little late here but echoing everyones prayers, best wishes and hugs.

Good luck with your tests and treatment. I am sure it is a scary time. Postive thoughts going your way. Ray and Deb
ReplyDeleteI think about the two of you every day and send a prayer your way. You are right, fishing is good therapy for Jim. Cancer is scary, but as others have said, there have been improvements with treatments. Having an oncologist you like is such a good thing. Being the spouse of a cancer patient must be so stressful - Roger said he felt so helpless - but just "being there" was good for me. I encouraged him to continue his normal routine - take care of yourself as you go thru these treatments along side of Jim because he will need you to stay healthy and positive for him. So glad you took the time for an update - my computer friends were a huge comfort for me when I went thru my treatments.
ReplyDeleteI have been out of pocket for over a week so just read your news. You are all in my thoughts and prayers and, as noted above, positive thinking has a powerful impact. Jim, keep up the fishing and add lots of hugs with the dachsies for stress relief.
ReplyDeleteHope the visits go well and that a plan that works best for Jim can be mapped out. Good luck, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
ReplyDeleteGlad u like ur oncologist-it's important to have someone we can relate to and trust. Prayers for u both. Heavenly Father will take care of us all if we will but let Him. Ur both in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteJust to let you know that everyone is thinking of you as you take care of business. Hope to hear good news when you post next. Healing thoughts sent Jim's way. Do take care of yourself...
