BACKROAD SCENES

Today we are headed to Kirtland, OH. I told the GPS to avoid the toll road to get us there and we wandered and wandered through back road America. Took us several hours longer to get here but we were able to avoid Cleveland which is definitely a good thing. I hate trying to maneuver through big cities and traffic.

IMG_6575We also got to see some beautiful sites. I didn’t realize that there were so many nuclear power plants in this area.

We also caught a glimpse of LaIMG_6576ke Erie along the way.

The first campground we arrived at (Windrush Hollow Camp) must have been closed for the season even though there were people there. Nobody was in the office and nobody responded when we called their number. In order to turn around we had to drive down into the campground and I’m so glad we didn’t stay there. Lots of low hanging branches, a horrible rutted road. Appears to be mostly permanent seasonal people who stay here.

IMG_6578 We finally got turned around and found another campground about 15 miles down the road. Heritage Hills Campground in Thompson, OH. IMG_6579

These are the views out of our front window. Beautiful place. Not many people here this time of year. So it all worked out well for us.

  1. My list says if you go to the Lake Metroparks Farmpark in Kirtland you can explore solar & wind power, The Great Tomato Works. Check it out for us, will ya? :)
