Many people mistakenly call it the Frank and Jessie James' house, and while they did visit, it actually belonged to their friend Frank Bronaugh. Directly across the street was a similar house that belonged to Frank's brother WC. Frank's house (the one you have pictured) was the most formal of the two. Each of the main reception areas were finished with a different species of wood, stained glass windows, and ornate fireplaces. You would have thoroughly enjoyed visiting--the craftsmanship and the stories can hold your attention for days. They are/have been privately-owned homes for decades. My family used to give tours all the time; I remember following groups of people and listening to the stories of hidden passages, trap doors, lookouts, and secret tunnels. It was a great place to grow-up. Roxanne (Dennis) Trouphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08334518625678041112noreply@blogger.com
