LAKE PLEASANT

DSCN0522 Jim and I had driven up to Lake Pleasant in the truck and thought it would be a wonderful place to stay for a week or so. On our way back to Apache Junction from Las Vegas we decided to spend the night there. We had hoped to stay at the State Park but it was full so we went to the campground at the marina.

DSCN0526 There are some beautiful sites at this campground and we were lucky enough to get one. Had a gorgeous view of the lake without an RV in the way.

However, and for us this is a big one, they charged us $5 per girl. And that’s an additional charge every night you want to stay. So instead of paying $25, the site actually cost $35. I just don’t understand why there’s an extra charge for pets.

DSCN0530 We had overhead entertainment while we were there.

DSCN0539 I thought we weren’t going to have a very good sunset because it was so cloudy but I was pleasantly surprised.

DSCN0533 The sites are back in so we did have to unhook. But since we only had 70 miles to go the next day we had plenty of time to get ready to move on.

  1. I hate parks that charge for a pet. Back when we had our cat I used to always ask if this fee entitled her to use the POOL and HOT TUB, was she allowed in the shower with use. Of course they always said no, so then I would ask what the fee was for and they could never give me an answer, they would him and haw and stop making eye contact then would mumble something about I don't know its just in the rules.

  3. Nice sunset photos. Charging extra for pets is just gouging as far as I'm concerned or, it's an indication that they simply don't want pets on their property.

  4. Great sunset! I sure don't understand the additional fee. :(

  5. Gorgeous sunset pics. But charging per animal is outrageous ! And $5.00 each at that !! I would simply have to refuse on principle alone.

  6. It's called creative pricing. They just figure it's extra revenue. We've seen it a couple times but thank goodness it's not the standard ... yet.

  7. great view from the windshield!..too bad about the extra pet charges though..we use to bring our kitty with us in the trailer and were told we had to pay a fee in one of rv parks we stayed at..never mind the fact that he went from the truck to the trailer and his paws never touched the ground!..geeshh..what a rip off!!

  8. I used to boondock on the shore at Lake Pleasant. Can you still do that?

  9. Spectacular sunset!

Somewhere I read a website about an RV park that charged $15 per day per pet - that would be an extra $30 for us. I think Rick is correct - the park probably doesn't want pets so they charge a fee. I figure if they don't like pets, I won't like their park so I won't give them any of my money.

  10. Looks like a beautiful place, but $10 extra for the girls is rediculous! I like PalmsRV approach!

  12. I've never heard of a park charging for pets. I wonder if that is just dogs or for cats too. We have a cat. How would they even know there is one. If they asked I would have to admit yes we do.
